It's more than likely self defense as Ubisoft has been slammed in the past for not including playable females, and the game is OBVIOUSLY NOT HISTORICALLY ACURATE AS THE MAIN FACTIONS ARE KNIGHTS, VIKINGS AND SAMURAIS FIGHTING ON THE SAME BATTLEFIELD
There's nothing wrong with using proper terminology.
More customization options can bring in more players, something this game will need to attract being a new IP thats MP only.

But from what ive heard/seen, you can use the environment to counter 1v2 senareos. Walls block your sides, so youll hug the wall and block your other 2 positions. The 2 will either waste a bunch of time trying to kill you (more than nessissary) or a freind will show up and help out. cliffs are dangerous all around, just hang around them and hope for the opprotunity to push/throw one of them off comes up.

The "realism" combat they're going for is almost impossible to get right, and no game has actually done it yet. Mount and Blade etc ape at it, but despite being decent for what they are really don't succeed.
