Consoles struggle to run their current gen games at 30fps at 1080p. Who the fuck thinks they are gonna get 100fps at 1440p or whatever is needed for VR? lol

I have an Oculus DK1 so I can't say much about VR, but its not that great right now, maybe the PSVR will finally push good titles to be in VR

I really want to be able to effectively shitpost in VR but I can't think of anything more hideous than using a traditional KBM setup in VR
I just want to be a ble to lay in my bed and type on a virtual keyboard with high speed and precision from any position I'm in without having to have a physical keyboard at all.
Then I'm sure motion control can emulate the precision of a mouse reasonably enough.
With motion control and a virtual keyboard, maybe my dream can come true.
I'm really looking forward to VR I have given up hope in conventional gaming so I really have nothing to lose.
I tried the Vive recently and it was pretty cool actually, but way too clunky and low quality for real product IMO. If they don't massively, and I mean hugely improve the design by consumer release, it's not going to go over well for HTC.

I mostly play RTS which I doubt will be as fast and responsive as using M+KB with current motion controls. There was one project that caught my eye, too bad I heard it got cancelled.

I will still be playing with my monitor, so VR HMDs won't replace conventional gaming for me anytime soon.
Still want into VR after trying out someones DK1 thoughm mostly for space sims, metaverse applications, panoramic video and images, and pronz. My system is a fair bit above the minimum spec listed by oculus980+4790so I should be good to go.
I've got one of those cheap entry level hotas from thrustmaster which would be nice to try out with warthunder HB mode and elite dangerous horizons.
Might mess around with vorpX if space engineers planets get optimized.
Waiting on HTC vive's announcement in January 6, if their consumer version doesn't add any particularly interesting features that are worth the wait and oculus preorders are a go, then I am grabbing a CV1 because fuck waiting for 3 months.

Well, it's not like we know when CV1 is set to come out either. They said Q1 2016, but preorders aren't open, specs aren't finalized, and a solid release date isn't announced yet.

motion control has come a loooooooooooong way. i see motion control as the easiest to solve problem.
the hard part is inputting data. how do we write? nobody wants to be sitting at a desk in vr or i can assure you that soon nobody will be wanting to.
to me the vr part isn't anywhere nearly as interesting as how they will manage to graft to the controls. the controls are essentially what makes the whole thing tick. the controls are the biggest challenge. without some pretty damn flawless controls i say vr really is just another gimmick.

decent handtracking similar to leapfrog motion would be nice for RTS.
We are fairly dexterous with our fingers and hands, its like having 2 mice you can do so much more when issuing commands.
Hotkeys and control groups can be a bit of a problem though, there is always voice commands but that didn't work well with tom clancy's end war.
