Why do you think SC will still fail?

Sure 2.0 has come out.

Sure many building blocks for most of the games core features have been created and released.

Sure transitions from space flight to planetary flight as well as purchasing items in shops will come soon.

And sure there's been work on optimizations on all levels.

Why I personally think it'll still fail is a very small issue that will no doubt bring the game down within a month of its actual release. And this is collision issues.

If you've tried landing, maneuvering within tight areas or anything in between, it's either been some invisible entity barreling into you or attached to something else which is animated and eventually fucks your shit up. That, and landing on ANYTHING is and always has been a glitchy mess unto itself. Once your ship contacts anything, it starts slow at first, sputtering and jerking, moving in a circle in small increments until it either falls off a pad into space or collides with something else and gets damaged or destroyed.

Nothing's ever been done about this. Ever. It makes me think there's no solution for it and it will start being recognized by everyone to be just an ongoing trouble which will be touched on here and there, only to be either drowned out by other issues or new content. Diehard idiots of the game will continue to think nothing of it, while people who want a stable game will get shamed for posting about it on the forums. Sort of like Arma 3s issue with horrible fucking FPS drops during multiplayer.

I wish all the best to the game and hope it's dealt with. But I honestly see this otherwise small issue being the game's downfall. Until it's absolutely taken care of, I can't see any other outcome.

It has a ton of technical hurdles they've yet to address in Q and A, or mention unprompted. Most of these come in to play because of the MMO Aspect of the game. This game really would have worked well as single player, but I think it'll be hamstrung in what it could have done because of the technical aspects and gameplay nature of a MMO.

But no one is worrying about that, because they need to justify their expenditures on the game, and Chris Roberts will keep releasing regularly scheduled pre-baked in-engine trailers till they run out of money.

If this game had just been Squadron 42, with a single player, open-ended, freelancer style post-game with all the other ships and mining, and trading, it'd be fantastic. However they went too far, and it's going to fail.

The tech demos don't matter. They can keep coming up with in-game things that look pretty and neat to their sheep.

But like i said in the original post, the actual downfall of the game is the inability to stop ships from being obstructed/destroyed by invisible geometry or simply landing on FUCKING ANYTHING which makes your ships jump around, get damaged or just jitters about, small movements at a time.

I want this game to be a success but have they said if there will be purchases that you need to make with real money once it gets released. In eve its plex. I really want this game to do good. We need a good space sim game. It's got impractical ambitions but I really would want a game to achieve what this company promises.

I'm not touching it until its finished, more or less. I never touch early access games.

There's in-game curencies that allow you to pay off insurances. But Newly released CONCEPTUAL ships are solf with LTI or "lifetime insurance." Which means if you've bought the concept ship (ship that hasn't even been fucking designed in the game yet) then you'll never have to pay for insurance once it does get into the game.

what I'm bummed about is this is an mmo. I dont like mmo's for many reasons but the main one is I have to rely on other people and they have to rely on me. Also you need to use mouse to be able to compete.

You could always just stick to the single-player stuff and host your own server to dick around in. Sure, you won't get all the server-side shit they want to run, but at least you can do stuff without giving a shit about other people.

Another option would just be to stick to areas where the PvP slider will put you up against NPCs only.

Joystick control is fine. It's a little worse for precision aiming with gimbaled weapons, but better for flight control, and the way the hardpoint system works means that there is typically a tradeoff for gimbaling a gun.

If using a stick, make sure ESP is enabled. Also, don't be a shitty dad who is bad at games.

What about a second, smaller flight stick? If you have a HOTAS setup, the smaller stick would be great for controlling turrets. Just whack it between the stick and throttle and set it up to control the turrets.

Yup. I know that the Saitek stuff comes with more hats than a TF2 thread, so anyone using that could set up a hat to control turrets. A stick would give more fluid movement, but I guess make do with what you can get.
