Mickey in general had a a mischievous and sometimes angry attitude to him. Later on they just sorta made him more tame to fit his role of being the main all-purpose Disney Character. Then Donald Duck came in with his own attitude and became pretty much the 2nd biggest Disney Character, making me believe they probably could've also kept Mickey as he was.
