More of a Fallout 3.3 with SPECIAL/perks no longer giving unique dialog options, a slightly less retarded but still incredibly bad story and an actually kinda fun but meaningless settlement builder.

>>
>>320369132
This game has the bes voice acting out of any Bethesda game ever.
Every other Bethesda game it sounds like every voice actor was just given all of their lines in a list without any context whatsoever and asked to read them. Also they had 5 voice actors.
Fallout 4's voice acting never broke immersion for me like other Beth games do, I don't hear the same guy every 2 minutes, the characters actually speak like they're in the world instead of reading lines off of a list.
I actually can't think of a single case of "same-voice" with the exception of some settlers which makes sense.
>>
>>320368890
This, but I would give it a 4/10.
Bethesda shouldn't get a free pass when they release a buggy game.
>>
5/10
Decent gunplay and exploration, but everything else is terrible, like the awful dialogue, shitty perk system, laughably small weapon variety, and a simply stupid story.
>>
6/10 gunning down raiders ghouls and synths for 40 hours got boring. No builds, not much replay value unlike NV
>>
>>320368752
8/10
Atmospheric as fuck at times with lots of weirdly fleshed out locations, NPCs and quests that you wouldn't realise existed without exploring.
>>
I feel like the unique weapons and armor aren't really unique anymore. This kind of chaps my ass if I'm going to be honest with you. My favorite part of NV and FO3 was finding some bad ass way better variant of my favorite guns or armor, but now it's just "whoa it does 10 points of fire damage, which isn't as good as half the other legendary guns you found but still bruh"
>>
>>320368752

Bethesda focused on everything they're good at but there's still room for improvements.
>>
>>320368752
6/10

Interesting and tightly packed Open World. Gunplay is an improvement along with better looking character models and decent animation. No RPG mechanics to be seen though, feels almost like a spin-off of the series.
>>
>>320369331
They must have gotten a new voice director. There are a LOT of voice actors reused from previous Beth games, but you can't tell from the quality.
Nick Valentine is voiced by the same guy who voices Belethor. You know, "some may call this junk. Me, I call then treasures. "
>>
10/10. Adachi did literally nothing wrong.

Agree. About 200 hours in. Still having fun. Looks like I will play this as much as any other Bethesda game.

>>
7/10

The game is fundamentally flawed and is missing vital roleplay elements, but it is easy to sink a lot of hours into due to much better gameplay than the previous Bethesda Fallouts.
>>

Bethesda should just make FPS from now on because the story and RPG elements sucked balls.

5/10
A big boring world filled with repetitive radiant quests and soulless NPCs with a below-average story.
>>
>>320369807
I've only played a couple of hours but the gunplay is incredibly unsatisfying, surely that's not the game's strong point?
>>
>>320369337
Honestly the bugs were the least of its problems.

I always loved modding all Bethesda games but they never get better anyway because polished shit is still shit.

Whatever, I'll enjoy playing it with a proper settlement system and not having to be fucked with by Preston with his stupid quests 24/7 everytime I see him when those mods come out. At least it feels like a shooting game this time around.
>>
5/10

The good:
Fun to play and waste time
Better combat
Settlements is a fun little extra (terrible on console)

The bad:
Little to none dialog options
Literally last gen graphics
Not an good RPG as older installments of the series
The absensce of moral choices and dialog checks is terrible

The ugly:

>>

Its glitch overload and the power armor core shit triggers me and I cant self insert into the character and the dialogue is poorly written.

That being said I dont quite enjoy it as much as I hoped I would. I REALLY liked 3 and NV. The first 3 games were too slow paced for me. I stopped playing 4 awhile ago. Ill probably go back to finish the bo:s stuff and main story later because I like to finish games.

Awful writing and bugs out the ass

This was my first Bethesda game. I was genuinely surprised at how disconnected I felt from my own character, and just how many times the game wigged out on me. How does a game that barely even functions correctly get so much critical acclaim?
>>
7/10

Combat is actually fun now but RPG elements were sacrificed.
>>
>>320370481
>How does a game that barely even functions correctly get so much critical acclaim?

Its basically its own genre, at least that's why I play them, cant get a shallow action game with a completly static open world anywhere else

But I'm not delusional enough to think they're above 7/10
>>
>>320370449
Dunno, but when I tried it adds a generic .44 magnum into my inventory.
It's strange because this issue isn't listed anywhere else on the net; even my friends, from whom I obtained the steam backup files, don't have it and verifying the game cache didn't fix it.
>>
4.5/10. The dumbing down of everything, the stupidest dialogue choices in video games, pre-established MCs, shit characters, completely nonsensical story and the usual amount of shitty fucking bugs didn't make up for the improved gameplay and somewhat improved visuals.

Then again its bethesda so who fucking knows anon

I really enjoyed it, although not as much as NV. Dialog wheel sucks dick, but the crafting, the factions, the combat, the game balance, the Special stats, the weapons and armor, the settlements, the companions and the lore in general has MASSIVELY increased compared to FO3.

If the game had NV dialog, gameplay, difficulty and survival mode it would have been an amazing game.

Everyone giving this game bad ratings can fuck off. This game wasn't meant for you. Also, one sentence is NOT enough to say everything that needs to be said.

7/10 The game is alright but doesn't seem to have much replay value. I definitely don't want to start a new character because that's essentially losing everything I've worked so hard for.

Repetitive Quests are mostly shit, lack variety and any kind of good reason to do them. The MILA sidequests were not so bad, but the minutemen quests boil down to "I have infinite settlements that have infinite X problems and so I need you to kill all the X". Little experience, small cash reward, enemies don't scale with you so they all die in 1 hit which makes battles all feel the same.

I don't give a shit about graphics; they were fine as long as I'm concerned. The world map feels disappointingly small, like I've seen all the marked locations on my first play through (Fallout 3 didn't feel that way to me, at least).

They didn't make you do anything in particular to find power armor: a lot of it is just in random locations (a lot of which is just the T-45 power armor you start off with anyway). The game doesn't exactly feel like a "wasteland" and the lack of random events is disturbing ("help, raiders strapped a bomb to my chest" or "I found this water, its mine", etc). This kills my explorer boner.

I actually have trouble finding quests (that were not repeatable) to do. I had a lot of fun playing the game, but I'm running out things to do.

This makes me want to bring up something I've been thinking about lately. At what point are games going to get "too big"? At what point will exploring the map feel like a chore?

I get games like GTA V and Just Cause 3 where a big map is necessary because you've got flying mechanics and those don't fit well with smaller maps.

Like I said, at what point are games going to get too big to be fun? Maybe this can be circumvented somewhat by having meaningful genuinely fun locations but what do I know?

And this right here is the root of the problem I reckon. There are basically no other games that offer something like the Bethesda Open World Experience, so they can put out basically anything that's at least playable and people will still buy it up because there isn't anything else like it.

We need more Witcher 3s to motivate Bethesda to get off their complacent arses and actually put effort into their games again.

If there's enough variety, never.

My biggest disappointment with Red Dead Redemption was how small the whole world map actually is. Granted it's still fun as hell, but there's Mexico, the American West and the Pacific Northwest, and it takes less than a half hour to get round all of it. When the game was first announced, I expected it to be the best thing ever, they made it out (as they always do, roll eyes) that it would be like an entire continent with tons to do and loads of towns etc.

It's still a great game and the map is quite big, but it's mostly empty being able to go through a train tunnel to get from open plains to a mountain stream is sort of ridiculous.

Big games like this requires a big team. Gotta produce many assets, so a small team makes such a task impractical to take on. And there's also experience in making them to take in consideration, let's remind here that Bethesda has been making them for decades. It's the same reason no one tries to rivalize The Sims, only a big publisher/dev has that many resources and enough experience with it. And even so, they do fuck up. So it's a risky endevour.

It only takes some basic damage modifiers to make the core gameplay great, and the quality level of everything but player dialogue is consistently high, however, it's very clear that the game was meant to be built around exploring for equipment, which hurts the game as they've left the loot list sparse since they can just rely on the modding community.

9/10 never have I played a more addicting game. sure the RPG is shallow but without fast travling all the freaking time like I did in previous games I realized that everything in the game has a purpose. my hats of to bethesda for taking everything about the game and fleshing it out. I hours running from settlement to settlement and I always run into something unique in between. this is a rare title in a long time that could be played for a lifetime.
