Not really. Warhammer Fantasy had big bulky armor looks for where it made sense (Chaos warriors who are fused with their armor sets, etc), but not overall. Reason why Blizzard decided to go with that look was because of technological limitations as pauldrons are the most obvious bling item on your character so they had to be more detailed.

I wouldn't consider myself fashionable. But I like games that let me play dressup.
A game can go from a 5/10 to a 7 or 8/10 if it has good character customization and armours or clothes to choose. And also needs a wide range of clothes.
Nothings worse than an mmo where there's practically no variation in armours till the end game and the only variation there is, is terrible.

You're both wrong. First of all, Warhammer has lots of over designed armor, but it has an equal amount of normal armor as well.
Secondly, the huge armors aren't because of technological limitations wtf are you smoking? The art style WoW uses was copied from Korea. It was a popular and generic look in most Korean MMOs.

I always try to think of my own Transmog sets for WoW, but I have no idea where to look for like "shoulders with X color" or shape so I usually just go for regular transmog sets.
