Ocarina of Time is a phenomenal, timeless game. Just because Arin needs to masturbate every five minutes and can't handle having patience for combat doesn't mean it's bad. The chest thing is a sort of good point, but it's like five seconds it means jack shit in the long run of the franchise, with how many hours you play. I think everything he said was correct in some way but so ridiculously exaggerated to the point he was hiding a lie in a half truth.
Yes, you have to wait for an opening in combat. Yes, the controls don't read your mind. Neither of those are really bad at all, and neither are executed poorly aside from some awkward camera angles at times.
The waiting to strike makes combat fun if you ask me. You can't just mindlessly mash attack like in the later 3d Zelda games if nothing else.
Compare OoTs combat to Skyward Sword's. In that game you have to wait for an opening too, but it's fucking shit and obtuse as hell.
