Fox Engine took years to develop and a shitton of money, and by the time MGS5 game out it was not even any better than most middleware options. If Kojima wants to strike out on his own he should start by using UE4 or some other such middleware engine, because if he makes one from scratch we won't see his next game for like 5 years.
Maybe Sony has an in-house engine that they'd let him use, too, like the one Uncharted uses.

I don't know, man. Kojima himself was responsible for the push to move MGS to PC. The guy's not an idiot, and he clearly regards his work as more than just a collection of digital toys. Consoles like the PS3 and the PS4 won't be able to play his games forever, but the PC should be viable for the next few decades at least. Besides, the Japanese consider space to be at a premium in the living room and even a modest laptop can play most Fox Engine games at decent settings. Even if Sony pays for a temporary exclusive, Kojima's new games will probably make it to the PC.
