I liked the first three, but I'm not sure about Fatal Frame after that. I've tried again and again and I just can not get into the fourth one one. I haven't been able to play past chapter 7 yet, I just get so bored with it. I don't even know much about the fifth except that all women are hot as fuck and that it was censored. I can't play it for awhile anyway since I intend to play the Japanese version if I play it at all and there's no way to get around region lock on a Wii U with firmware 5.5 yet as far as I know.
It's good. The new engine and mechanics are top tier, it needed some serious polishing though.

FF5 has a weird ass "anti-survival" system where you can't stockpile items like you normally would. Instead after each chapter all extra items you have are converted to points that only count towards ranking. This is basically the worst idea ever and disincentives exploration.

Fatal Frame 2 is the only game that ever had particularly sexy bonus costumes and they were kind of bland bikinis that were brought in as bonus content for the xbox release. In general the bonus costumes are just themed alternate outfits that are no more sexy than the defaults, often they are even more modest than the defaults.
Shit, even the default costumes for Fatal Frame 5 are more risque than what the series has typically seen.

The PS2 version. I don't know if the Xbox version fixed it but in the PS2 game I was swimming in health items and film. I spent most of the game just using the type 07 film because I was expecting a difficulty jump later but it never came. The ghosts are all extremely slow and the only time I died (or even came close to it) was the fist Kusabi encounter. It's a great game but extremely easy; far easier than the rest of the series.
