Don't get me wrong, I like Gengar but he already got representation on Pokken. If they are going for more pokes I'd rather see one unexpected that has little representation outside of the main games, but still interesting enough to get a cool moveset.

Please, no. I love Gengar, he's like my fourth favourite Pokemon, but only 2 out of the 6 Pokemon we have aren't gen 1. If we have to have another Pokemon, I want Sakurai to blow our minds and reveal a Pokemon from a new gen 7 game we haven't seen before.

How is it a "meme"? It's a valid point that even Sakurai himself has addressed. He says that he chooses Pokemon newcomers by looking at ''who's in the movies right now?'' and who's ''the hot Pokemon?". Plus, I'm pretty sure the reason he cut down Pokemon trainer was because of too many Gen 1 Pokemon.
More people played Pokemon Black and White than they did Fire Emblem Awakening, and more people played Diamond and Pearl than they did Xenoblade Chronicles. Nintendo fans are going to want to see Sceptile, Zoroark and Blaziken get in, no matter what the ''fact of the matter'' is.
