The only thing in Divinity that upset me was that one town with a CRAZY mage lady. Where upon exploring the town and looking for the next quest, you could stumble into her enormous building, thinking it was important since it's like the biggest building in the town, and she'd immediately attack you unless you passed a RNG speech check. Then she'd have good stuff to sell, but you'd have to pass an RNG speech check again to convince her to sell. And then after completing the transaction, you'd have to complete another RNG speech check just to walk away from her. Failing any of them causes her to basically just instagib you.
As a result, I never got to look around that enormous building or talk to anyone in there because of dice rolls every two steps.
