It was alright. Not amazing, but better than GTA games. Fun enough for me to 100% it.
I think if it was made today it'd become GOAT, given how much free content R* has added to GTAV since release, but at the time the world was pretty sparse and the gameplay lacked variety.

All characters in RDR are shitty old west archetypes. The writing is weak too, like all Rockstar games the dialogue is shitty and repetitive. Literally the only good part of the story is the ending.
