The 980 is insanely overpriced here. So is the 970 but you're better off getting it instead. The performance increase isn't worth the cost difference here.

Are you going for 4k gaming?

If not then that will be ungodly overkill
>>
>>320238398
u really dont need a 750$ gpu unless u got money to blow. You can easily go down to a $500 gpu unless ur going to buy a sexy 4k monitor to go along with this build. And u are gonna get bottlenecked with that cpu if ur dropping that much money just drop another 50$ for an i7. Also u can get a full modular 1000 W power supply for another 20$. You also should drop at least 100 on a SSD. Who the fuck build this?

8800 GT, which was better.
Then, the 560Ti

Is there gonna be any major gaming performance increase?

Uses less power, was cheaper, yet almost the as strong (some say stronger) than GTX 8800.

The 8800GT was hailed as some miracle card at the time, and it definitely did serve me well. Even today, it is running my friend's makeshift WoW machine.

I was hoping around 2000-2500 range for a modern computer max out stuff like mgsv is that realistic?

Jack shit, you might see an increase of 1-2 FPS if you're lucky, probably not even that. Memory just isn't a bottleneck in gaming unless you have too little of it, in which case you get swapping which absolutely murders your performance
>>
>>320239004
>I don't know alot a bout pc's but didn't the 970 have way less vram than advertised or some shit I remember a controversy over it.
No. And you're a prime example of (AMD's) counter-advertizement at work.

970 has 4GB of VRAM, but the last 0.5GB is partitioned into its own section, which some programs have harder time utilizing as well as the first 3.5GB.
>>

>>
>>320238909
You should see slight improvement in gaming nothing major like a GPU change or an SSD. but it is noticeable and you will benefit from them with regular PC use
>>
>>320238909
No, there will be no difference at all.

The ONLY real gain from having faster RAM in gaming would be that you're using a system with a mere integrated GPU, which utilizes RAM as its VRAM.

GJ diminishing what I said to a single bullshit sentence.

The card was cheaper, almost a 100$ so. The card used less power than GTS. Yet, it provided about 90% of the power of GTS.

The 8800GT had a magnificent price:performance ratio.

>>320239326
RAM is literally the temporary memory, to which programs are stored when they're running. You only need to have enough RAM to run the OS and the game simultaneously. 8GB is still safe, and DDR3 is cheaper and more available than the new DDR4, which again has been proven to not affect gaming performance whatsoever.

Yeah no. It's best to make your lies a bit less easily defeated by a good search for benchmarks, showing a 680 (and base 780) not running any high end games of this eyars at 1440p at 60 fps.

I'm not terribly knowledgeable on the subject (not as much as others in the thread, anyway), but the 750Ti seems to hold up okay. Though I guess it's considered recent so I have no idea how viable it'll be in the future.
