A ant that controller like 100 bucks, and it only works with 2 games on that console?

>what the fuck man

Since Phantom Dust is dead they should really just fucking make this instead, jesus christ I just want to feel like I'm actually piloting a mech, and SB is the only game that actually gives that feeling.
>>
>>320201564
I have always wanted one of those controls strictly to build it into a chair and pretend to be a mech pilot.

Anon, those things go for like, 150 TOPS. I have 3 stores near me that sell them for 80.

There is no joke. That entire thread was fucking stupid. Only a god damned mongoloid sees the steel battalion controller and doesn't understand how to use it.
>>
>>320203560
Not near me they sure as fuck don't. Even on Amazon they're like 300 bucks used, and I sure as fuck wouldn't buy a used one.

Check some Half price book stores near you. They usually come with box, and mine had one sealed in box. They can also order them from another store.

I think some people got it working with Star Citizen and Elite Dangerous, although the tricky thing about it is that the components aren't necessarily of the quality / precision you'd want for a flight sim since they were just designed for a mech game on Xbox.

The conceptual controller for Hawken looked amazing, but unfortunately it got canned because 1) manufacturing would have been too expensive to sell it at a reasonable price, and 2) it would have been a disadvantage against other players, rendering it somewhat pointless.

Mechwarrior Online was also supposed to get a special joystick too, but that whole game ended up being a huge clusterfuck where the only viable way to play was in third person with a mouse and keyboard. They pretty much killed the game's audience when they decided to make it more casual-friendly, so a special joystick would have just lost them money.

Maybe someday after the Mechwarrior / Battletech license has fallen into the right hands someone will make a proper new Mechwarrior game, but as far as I know the next game in the franchise is a turn-based Battletech game (which actually looks decent, but obviously it's not a sim).

And a fat lot of good it did for the Kinect. The stupid thing has fallen completely into the rubbish bin of history even after Microsoft tried making it a pack-in accessory and did their original plan of putting a dedicated CPU in it. The only thing it will ever be good for is satisfying the curiosity of tinkerers to control their robots and shit with.

Motion controls were the dumbest fad ever to shit on vidya. The only place where they are good for anything is headtracking, which has been around since the Apache helicopter.
>>
A game like that would never economically work for the console audience. It's against everything they stand for.

This game development was massively subsided by MS to promote the first Xbox.
>>
>>320204487
Actually the original game flipped a small profit, nothing big but enough for them to make a sequel.

Some of the weird experimental bullshit is still on PC, although the glory days of the 6th gen are never coming back. The 6th gen was the best era of video games ever. Sony, Nintendo, Sega, and Microsoft all made consoles and all of them had lots of good exclusives that were worth playing. 3D gameplay had finally been perfected, and budgets hadn't run away yet so it was still viable to make AAA games in just about every genre imaginable. These days the industry has huddled around only a few genres because it's too expensive to make anything else without risking financial ruin.

I thought the xbone kinect uses a different port, not usb.
>>
>>320204641
Not without subsided development and the opportunity cost of doing it would also be very high.
>>
>>320205201
The original Kinect had an optional USB connector since many of the Xbox 360s did not have the special Kinect port. MS made it officially windows compatible because they thought it would be a hit with gamers, but they also made developer tools available.
