People don't talk about Atelier in general because they mostly just fap to the official art

Never bothered with the dusk series since the first was dub only on PS3 and they removed time management in them. The Arland series I love the hell out of though.

Not like there's much else to fap to when it comes to Atelier.
>>
>>320168173
The lack of time management made the game less challenging, hard mode was a joke, yet there's a boss you face just before the final boss that has bullshit OP stats. His defeat isn't even needed to proceed the game.

No, it's not shit at all. It's better that this series doesn't get threads often.

Dusk series killed the Atelier revival.

Is Arland's series that good?
>>
>>320170596
No it didn't.
>>
>>320170772
Atelier Meruru is literally perfect, and Atelier Rorona's cast and story are just exceptionally charming.

Meruru was indeed perfect. The Arland games got increasingly better with each entry.
>>
>>320168173
I have a question about this series. I have only seen a few videos and played a bit of the first ps2 game. How does the alchemy work is it implemented into the combat well? A game focused around alchemy both in and out of combat sounds neat but I wan't to know if it's implemented well here.
>>

Is it just me or are their necks really long in that picture?
>>
>>320172058
if you don't use it, you die.
>>
>>320172507
Yeah but how does it work? Do you collect ingredients and make potions or bombs or acid or things ahead of time then use them in combat? Or is it some other thing?

That book is too lewd
>>
Because the fanbase is /jp/ cancer, so typically one would keep their like for the series to themselves so they don't attract those types.
>>
>>320172913
Yes you collect ingredients and make items to use in combat.

But you sometimes use those same ingredients to make stronger ingredients to make bombs to use in combat. Then there's story items you need to create to advance.

It's a simple system that works amazingly well
>>
>>320174026
Are there a lot of different types of concoctions or are they all just bombs or potions?
>>
>>320174194
different types. there's battle items, weapon/armor items, story items, and ingredient items
>>
>>320168173
Can't even finish Eschatology because of how boring it was. Ayesha is damn excellent though.
>>
>>320174578
You make weapons and armor with alchemy? That sounds kinda dumb.
>>
>>320173285
Might as well just make a porn game.

>>320174823
You need special equipment/tools to make weapons and armor though.
>>
>>320175212
Yea but I mean that's a blacksmith's job not an alchemist's it just seems weird for one to be making sets of armor and swords.
>>
Combat looks pretty shit and i ain't trying to play a game where the majority of the casts are little girls.
>>
>>320175430
You make the equipment that makes the armor/weapons.
>>
>>320175430
It's been a while since I played it but In Rorona you have to go to the blacksmith if you want to synthesize weapons/armor and in Escha one of the Alchemist is specialized in weapon/armor making so he was half blacksmith I guess.
>>
>>320175430
you're just making the traits to put onto the armor. shit nigga, how autistic are you to nitpick shit.

You weren't going to play any of the games in the first place
>>
>>320168979
Time management is still in Ayesha.
The only one it's completely gone in is Shallie.
>>
>>320174823
You throw various shit into a pot and make anything from a basic pie to a WMD tier bomb, but weapons/armor are a problem?
>>
>>320175769
I'm not nitpicking I just said it was weird. And from what I've read you do blacksmith stuff in addition to alchemist stuff . I never said that was a negative point just that i thought it was weird for a alchemist to make armor. Also I do plan on playing it which is why I asked. People like you are the worst. You just wait for someone to ask a question or have a criticism then jump on them for being nit picky or caring too much about something that doesn't matter. to everyone else who answered my questions thought thatk you for humoring me and I will pick this game up.
>>
>>320170772
Not even slightly. People are just in it for the art.
>>
>>320168173
That girl with the long black hair is cute
>>
>>320175521
Atelier's cast is actually a bit more balanced in gender. Well, in some of it anyway.

In Rorona you got a blonde loli, blonde walking tits, young male cook who fights with a frying pan, dandy old man who fights with a sword cane, a male knight, and a guitar carrying faggot who for some reason fights with his bare hands. That's 4 males 2 females(+1 with the FeMC). The remake has more female characters but I think it's just 1 or 2.
>>
>>320168173
Gust continues to dumb the series down for plebs so fans are losing interest. Does Sophie have time requirements?

I bought ayesha but never finished it. I kinda wanna play it now. Pretty sure im gonna get a shitty ending because i wasted a lot of days though.

The crafting is really cool.
>>
>>320177052
sort of. nothing like arland games. but there are some time limits. Game is too casualized because people got angry they kept getting bad ends in meruru and totori
>>
>>320177052
Nobody plays Atelier to feel hardcore, anon. I'm fine with the both Arland and Dusk. Getting rid of time requirements isn't really a big deal.

i didn't mind the removal of time limit because to be honest it's so fucking huge it barely matters

what really killed my interess in the series is how it got annualized a-la COD with barely any change while making the pacing of the game worser and worser and the new character and story element introduced went to be more and more boring

pic related, the zennith of boring RPG companions
>>
>>320177882
>Nobody plays Atelier to feel hardcore, anon
I do. I enjoyed the challenge of creating items and managing my time in the original Rorona and the rest of Arland. Ayesha wasn't bad, but it showed signs of "streamlining" everything and E+L was the last one I played. I hated it.
>>
>>320168979
Ayesha+ on Vita has Japanese audio.
Time management is in all of Dusk but Shallie.
>>
>>320177882
I do. The time limit is what made the game fun. Instead of just hoarding items and being some mmo grindfest, I needed to learn how to be efficient, and that's the backbone of the game. How good are you with alchemy to be as efficient as possible.

But without it, it just becomes another boring grindfest JRPG with no worries.
>>
>>320177907
i feel you but this is gust we're talking about
ive been looking at every other entry recently and its been going alright. I do believe the games need a bit more cooking time thuogh

>>320178135
this
i really enjoyed creating powerful items that actually felt like it, instead of oneshotting thinks with dynamite
>>
I have totori plus but never played it. Is it a good starting point?
>>
>>320177532
Play it man, you won't regret it. Restart if you already in the middle, you might forgot a lot of things. Also use a guide for reference. Mind you, just for reference. Don't follow it from day to day because it's fucking boring.

Also dat OST

>>
>>320177907
Eschatology's cast is fucking terrible though. Except Linca.
>>
>>320178995
meruru would be better but you're not losing out on too terribly much

just remember to have fun
>>
>>320168173
>Never bothered with the dusk series since the first was dub only on PS3 and they removed time management in them. The Arland series I love the hell out of though.

It is shit and Sophie is even more shit than Shallie
>>
>>320178758
This series isn't for you if the only thing you liked was the time limit. You never have to grind either so I don't know what you are talking about. I can assure that the time limit wasn't the only thing that makes this series unique from other JRPGs.
>>
>>320181059
Not that anon but the time limit and crafting were the two biggest draws for me, the crafting is still there, but without that sense of urgency, it feels like my resource management is less important, which made the game less fun overall. I also felt characters got weaker over the course of the series.
>>
>>320168173
I want to start but rorona plus is always $40.00
>>
>>320181059
Not him, but they dumbed down other stuff. Now items are all the same. Every [insert item name here] is exactly the same with the same traits. This hurts the crafting because now there is less creativity in "paths" to making that good item. It's streamlining everything and makes it less fun.

Shallie was really fun despite it not having any time management. The story was leagues better than Escha despite it still falling short in a number of areas specifically the side events.

Besides, Shallie had this bad motherfucker.
>>
I've been wanting to know this and since we rarely have atelier threads: Is the new game still part of the dusk series?

I know they changed the artist and thats pretty much indicative that its a new series but why is Logy in the game?
>>
>>320182537
That's certainly not true in Shallie. Some items are all identical, but the best items are individual.
>>
>>320183402
No, the new game is not part of the dusk series.
Logy is just being the new Hagel.
