Basically, because "good" as in 'revolutionary as fuck' is not "good" as 'able to withstand the test of time'. I understand why OoT was so highly praised in its time. It's expansive, it's cute, homely, but grand in all the right places. But it's not very substancial. Empty Hyrule field, some dungeons are just eh, minigames get shitty real fast, especially the fucking fishing, and the story is a bit too archetypical for itsown good, it introduces characters in a storybook way, we do not get them at all, they are not one-note, more like zero-note. The game is still cool and all, but it's 7/10, no more. Also, in my opinion no Zelda beats the OG, and that one I haven't played till a year ago, so no nostalgia.

Maybe it's that. But again, original LoZ is a straight 10/10 for me. I feel it much more than OoT. Also MM, although a hipstery choice, is a unique example of a metroidvania that works through time, not space. Yeah, credit where credit is due, I'm not an IGN faggot, 7 means extremely good. I just think that OoT had a lot of things that were good and new, and it has a nice identity, but the it lacked that little something that cannot be copied at all. I don't want to get all pissy and that last sentence sounds like an insult, but... OoT for me is an extremely cool benchmark that should be praised as an originator of it all, but not as the greatest example. So, it's not overrated until fanboys shove it into everyone's faces screaming "YOU PLEBS JUST DO NOT UNDERSTAND!". And Hyrule Field, well, it's not that it's completely empty, it's just that it lacks significance. It might as well be a hallway, because other areas, like the desert, or the Gerudo mountains show the grandeur a lot better.
