There's a reason why they make very unambitious games in Gamemaker for PCs. Unambitious games don't require much work to make, Gamemaker takes care of all of the technical heavy lifting for you, and PCs are strong enough that even though your game is optimized like shit and requires more power than a PS1 despite looking like an SNES game, it'll still work.
I honestly sometimes wonder what the fuck Vlambeer is doing. I heard it took them over a year to make Radical Fishing. Nuclear Throne has been in early access for over a year despite being so simple that anyone with a passing knowledge of Gamemaker could make it in less than a month.
