How much?
>>
Because the next generation of cards is going to shit on the current one, so why waste the money now.
>>
because I bought two Titan back 2 years ago
If anything I might switch for Pascal next year
>>
Hign end GPUs are a waste of money. I got a mid end r9 380 and it's perfectly fine. Actually outside of W3 I don't even think i've used it at all.
>>
I'm Canadian.
>>
I just play games at 1080p.

You're going to wait 6-7 months for the new graphics cards to come out when you can play games for max settings now?

this

my gtx 670 is fine, I can wait a few months for the next series to drop
>>

I'm upgrading to a 1600p monitor soon, the current cards just barely get 60fps at that resolution in the current un-optimized games we all play, so I'm fine waiting.
>>
I have. I play 1440p 120hz, I just buy top of the range and then sell it to buy the new top

I don't buy memecards.
>>
>>320106837
The 9 series isnt that great. Ive had a 980 and 970. Because i have a 4k screen i now need a titan or 980ti at least but im going to wait and see what the next range is like and get the 1080 or whatever or the 990 if they do one.

It would only make sense to purchase Titan X when its first comes out. Titan X only meant for Nvidia enthusiastic who wants to be the first to own the latest and greatest shit at a premium price.

Well the consoles have little bit better GPUs than 560 Ti. If I was impatient, I might buy HD7970 / 280X / 770 / 680 from craigslist. Otherwise I'd wait for the next generation and look sales for R9 390 and GTX970.

I run a 980 off a Seasonic Fanless 520w, and the Titan X uses about 75w more at peak. 600-650 should be fine.

Remember when a 780ti was flat faster than a 290x across the board? Fun times.

Remember when a 770 was competing against a 7970/280x? Fun times.

Remember when if you suggested your 7970/280x was as fast as a 780 you would be laughed off the internet? Fun times.

WTF are you babbling about, It's just a second gen stacked HBM. Did you see any major performance boost on the AMD side besides giving more room on the PCB for more memory? Did you see /g/ getting excited about this shit.

Main thing is having less driver overhead is still more important than this. HBM production process is still in a stage where it's still working on its kinks and still currently hard produce, also has an inflated price at release day. so you going have wait like 3 financial quarters to see a decent price drop.
>>
HBM cards are going to be a monstrous improvement over current video cards. That's why I opted for a midrange card now and I'm saving for a monster in the future.

HBM prices are still inflated, so far only less than 3 plants has certs production for this type of memory. SK Hynix, Samsung, I forgot the third one who just recently got a cert.

man I should've waited a little longer and went with 390X instead of 980.

I have a feeling 980 is going to get shit on the moment pascal is out like kepler, DX12 and a severe lack of async compute already does not bode well for its longevity. It is pretty good for DX11 games currently but not by a large margin.

I fell for the "full" DX12 meme (doesn't support tier 3 resource tiling) and VR direct. VR isn't even out yet but there are rumors going around that AMD can achieve significantly lower latency in VR with asyncronous compute meanwhile 980 struggles to get less than the bare minimum 20ms required to ensure there is very little chance to get motion sick, though that could have changed by now.

Could've gotten 8GB VRAM for 100$ less, handy for later when I decide to crossfire for 4k and for those poorly optimized games that might use more than 4GB with high res textures.

I'll bite the bullet and make the switch later to 14nm arctic islands a year or two down the line if liquidVR kicks gameworksVRs ass and the card turns out to be good for 4k and DX12/vulkan.

At least I didn't get kekked hard by 3.5

AMD's VR tech - LiquidVR - is powered by Mantle.
>>
>>320114246
Sort of. Some hardware supports virtualization, so you set your motherboard to pass through the GPU, install a thin Linux distro with Qemu, and install your gaming OS as a virtualized client OS.

Then desktop software you run on the host system won't interfere with the game's use of the GPU. Plus in the case of Windows since the telemetry updates this is the only sure fire way short of a second system to filter its web traffic and prevent either forced updates that break things, or prevent leakage of data.

Plus it has been demonstrated by benchmarks that this can actually be faster than running Windows directly on the hardware.
>>
>>320112219

With no OC at 4k. Let's compare at 1440p (4k is trash because you can't go above 60 Hz) and OC.
>>
>>320116570

>because you can't go above 60 Hz

Unless you are playing on low a single gpu isn't going to push much over 60fps at 1440p either. If you go multi-gpu systems then its AMD or bust due to sli being awful.
