This, I fucking love my old vga monitor for that reason. OP, if you do get a gaming monitor, just make sure after every driver update you set color settings back to full from limited. Limited color settings (the default choice) look just awful.

I use an Acer G257HU that I picked up for $220 and I've been enjoying it. It's a 1440p 60 Hz 25" IPS. You can probably find one for a decent price after Christmas, right now they're going for $260.

Well It is the XB271HU. At first I was gonna get the 270, but after hearing that the 271 is coming out so I decide to just wait for it.
The first batch came out right before thanksgiving and sold out immediately.
then the second batch showed up on Dec 8 for few hours before sold out again.
I got mine for $800 off amazon, and it was Only 3 left when I ordered mine.
Are Korean 1440ps still decent in this day and age for gayming? Was looking for a cheap 1440p to run with a new GTX970 but seems there's been a ton of development in the 1440p field. But all of the other brand name options are pretty expensive ($400+) while Korean monitors are still mid to high 200s.
depending on how good next years GPUs are, I might get a 4k monitor.
