Don't think I bought any games that came out this year. Well, I bought Age of Empires 2 HD: We Wuz Kings, but didn't play anything other than the scenario creator... So I'd say Mario Brothers 2 is GOTY again.
idk, I didn't play many games this year. Probably Splatoon. I'm still planning on playing The Witcher 3, maybe that'll beat it.

Nothing I've played from this year has really stood out as "the best game of this year" for me, despite this year being a pretty great year for games.
Fallout 4 was a pleasant surprise considering how much I hated Fallout 3 when I played it.
Hotline Miami is just like Dark Souls 2; a game that completely fucks up on the original games strong points (too much plot, much larger levels and off screen shit) while only adding in a small amount of improvements (Masks are more restrictive and unique, music is great).
Undertale was nice and the writing was decent, but was gimped from the get go for being a crowd funded game which always cave into fan demands and thus is filled with shitty memes which have no place in the games writing.
MGS5 is solid, but not exceptional. A very mellow ending to the Kojima line of MGS games.
Bloodborne seems pretty good so far, still need to beat it.
DMC4 was a welcome token, but is a re-release and still a unfinished game
Perhaps I need to play some more games.
