At least they did. I actually admire them for it. 9 out of 10 developers today would have just thought exactly what you're thinking and just quietly let it fade from memory, but they released it on principle even though it was pointless.

There was some guy showcasing the editor here before the game even fucking released, and it seemed as finished then as it does now.
I'd be pissed if I hadn't given up on the editor releasing five months ago.
