But since Shantae is an indie game character, her chances are VERY iffy. Daisy is the most voted first party female, so she will be taken into account. Daisy also comes from Mario, Smash's most prominent series, so it's only fair to assume that they'd release a DLC from their most profiable, figurehead series. Daisy is the only option. Walu is an assist. Geno is irrelevant and not reoccuring. Toad is Peach's B move. Daisy may be a spin off character, but she is ALWAYS there, unlike Birdo and Toadette who are on and off constantly.

Other than being a tomboy, Daisy doesn't really have that much to set her apart from Peach. She has sports games and appears in spinoffs. Her characterization compared to peach (which isn't that much either ironically) is very minimal.
A pallete swap for peach is more than enough to represent her.
