This would actually be a good thing. They need to make towns and cities more lively, which is done by making them bigger and add more people. That doesn't mean they should all be named and willing to hold lengthy conversations with you though, and they can just be generic nameless NPCs.

Maybe the city would look bigger, and on first glance would be more lively. But once you actually enter and interact with the city, you'd be notified that this is a video game and those are not real people. It's breaking immersion.

Agreed.

Oblivion was my favorite partly because of the npcs, they had much better schedules, personalities that actually affected things, and had more dynamic ability in general than skyrim. You never knew 100% what was going to happen.

I don't want robotic npcs that are basically just eye candy.

You clearly know nothing about the differences between oblivion and skyrim npcs then.

For example in oblivion, some npcs could steal and pickpocket from other npcs if they wanted something and didn't have it in its inventory, I.e food. This was driven by the responsibility trait, something that was stripped away in skyrim.

There's other dynamic, non scripted NPC abilities like this that they could do in oblivion but got taken out of skyrim.


And don't even get me started on schedules, skyrims were so bare bones compared to oblivion.

The answer there is just to make harder enemies. I don't mind small-scale levelling enemies, like varients of one species appearing more often the higher level you get, but just making them all scale removes so much gameplay potential. Like in New Vegas where everyone in Goodsprings tells you not to go North and being the faggot you are you don't listen and killed by Deathclaws. But if you're smart, you can cut out a massive swath of the game and get to New Vegas quickly.

Now imagine all the Deathclaws and Cazadores on the I-15 were replaced with Geckos and Bloatflys at level one.

I kind of agree. I think it has some depth in terms of its world, but gameplay and character interaction isn't crazy deep. I'd I guess agree though that at least dialogue choices aren't crazy bearbones, but in terms of how you interact with the world, and the pace of the main plot(for example, the world levels around you), I would argue those could be deeper.

Yeah it gets easy because you get high level and have all kinds of good loot.

The correct answer is to play a new character and join new factions and explore the rest of the content. There's tons of content, start a new character.

The wrong answer is to dumb down the game with levelled enemies and loot.
