As a kid I loved the cartoon but hated the live-action shit with Lou Albano and Danny Wells. 20 years later I find myself enjoying the live-action bits more instead and the cartoon itself has a lot of cringe.

Super Mario Super Show was fine. The live action intros were cute, Captain Lou was a nice voice for Mario, and the animated segments were nice. It was a dumb kid's show and did it's job well.
The Zelda segments were more questionable, since they were a real departure from the games. But standing on their own they're pretty fun.
They are silly chessy 80's kids cartoons but those have a lot of charm.
Also I do prefer Captain Lou as the voice of Mario. That sounds like what I'd imagine a guy that looks like Mario would sound like. The current voice is very pitched and annoying. This is just personal preference.

Its also really great in the M&L RPGs.

What makes a bad movie enjoyable is the failure. You tried to make a good movie and it fell flat on its face. You can see all the heartfelt effort put into it. Taking itself seriously is what makes a "good" bad movie. Making it bad on purpose just means you succeeded at making a piece of shit.
