2-1 is standard first case stuff
2-2 is good
2-3 is weak
2-4 is good
and you have new characters like Pearl and Franny being entertaining throughout + this was the game where Psyche Locks were introduced. JFA is perfectly enjoyable, get over it.

In all seriousness, I feel that they've gotta focus on engaging character dialogue and fun characters first, and build the rest around that. First and foremost it's the characters that keep people around for these games, after all.

People will give me shit for even mentioning it in an AA thread but there's Danganronpa. A bit more typically anime-esque than AA but it has a charming set of main characters like AA. First game is a bit weak though.
There's Net High, though we dunno if that's being localized or not. Another game with more anime stylings, instead of a lawyer you play as a buttmad neet on the internet.
D4 is basically Swery's take on an Ace Attorney Investigations game, pretty fun though it ends on a cliffhanger. I remember hearing recently that the next part of the story is being worked on.
and then there's stuff like Ghost Trick, the Zero Escape series, and Hotel Dusk. Not quite like AA but part of the same genre and all plenty enjoyable.
