The game really doesn't have sidequests. The game doesn't have a single plot. The whole game is constantly reacting to what you do, while playing out what is going on in Calradia.
The campaigns can span tens or hundreds of hours, depending on your goal. If your goal is to unite all Calradia under your rule, that takes a long time.

I really don't care about modding PC games in that kind of way. DSfix is literally just for bringing it up to PC standards by unlocking the internal resolution and framerate. Sure, there's some extra fluff like ambient occlusion too but it's nothing game changing.
