Is slamming "people" into the side of a mountain an appropriate reaction to idiotic beliefs and a condescending attitude to someone who was just trying to help, even exploiting a mental illness?

Yes. I killed them all and I'm glad I did it.

no.

They were gonna slam into something and die regardless.
>>
They're inhuman undead monsters not your friends.
If anything, that they can mock human tongues and claim to be equal to human when they can survive for hundreds of years and heal when exposed to radiation is even more disturbing.

>X-01 power armour in FO4 doesn't have the cool fan because they needed to put in the faggy opening mechanism and fusion core hole
>>
>>319956064
If Bethesda doesn't care about the story, I don't think it really matters anymore.
>>
>>319956184
>faggy opening mechanism
You dislike that? It's one of the better parts of the game. The fusion core stuff is kind of iffy but the way Power Armor was done in FO4 is pretty great. I finally feel like I'm wearing a powered suit of armor.
>>
>>319956347
I'd have preferred the fan.
>>
>>319956527
Fair enough. Idea: Ditch the fusion core mechanic and put the fan back, and leave the opening mechanism.

Further idea: If you need to keep the fusion cores in the game, have then "overheat" and allow the built in fan to cool them down so you can keep using them.
>>
>>319952689
Wet skin and salty roaches.
>>
>>319956527
Fucking faggot
>>
>>319956713
Honestly, it's so easy to preserve fusion cores I don't know why they bothered. My meek engineer spent most of the game inside PA, usually without the perks. Sure, I try to RP as best I can and walk most places, but it's not like fusion cores don't just start dropping like candy with the low LCK perks. They should've just designed T-45d to run on cores/ECPs and made it (along with the rest of the armors) considerably rarer.
>>
>>319952689
Parchment.
>>
>>319957257
More like vellum
>>
>>319957109
Or maybe armors use cores at different rates.
>>
>>319957109
I currently have 50 fusion cores without trying.
The most annoying thing is that when you enter power armor, it automatically selects a full fusion core.
So you get an inventory full of fusion cores with 90% or 60% power left.
Since every core with a different % doesn't stack, it just wastes fucking space.

Considering power armor is supposed to last hundreds of years on internal power I just don't see why they bothered.
>b-but it's to make power armor more special to use!
then why give us a full suit 5 minutes into the game?

I feel like there were probably several team members in Bethesda that would argue about how PA should be implemented and they all had to compromise.
>>
>>319957494
Eh. Per Bethesda's own interpretation of the lore (as of Fo3), only T-45d required an easily exhaustible energy source. I'd rather they impose locational and proficiency restrictions on it instead. There are a lot of places in-game that should be too small for you to get through in PA but you clip right through it like it was nothing.

>>
>>319959071
That's not an interface issue, though, that's more them designing around the interface. Which, again, makes you wonder why they designed it like they did. It clearly presented an obstacle a dialogue list wouldn't, but they stuck with the wheel anyway and jumped through several hoops both in writing, paraphrasing, and voicing dialogue to get it to stick. It's really quite baffling.

The only good thing about F4's writing is that they finally embraced that Fallout games typically require a lot of Moral Ambiguity.

Aside from that, it's shit.

There are actual very few segments where moral ambiguity comes into play, though. The Institution are stupid evil and, because of how shitty the post-game is, the Minutemen are functionally identical to the BoS without all of the oppression and bigotry baggage. I don't even know why the Railroad are a major faction. There's very little room for choice in most questlines, and what choice there is usually has a clear right answer. Aside from Cabot House and the U.S.S. Robotflyingship, I can't think of any really ambiguous quests.
>>
>>319960619
What the hell are you talking about?
1, 2 and NV had moral ambiguity.
Fallout 4 literally has the positions for good, bad, and sarcastic permanently mapped to 3/4 possible dialogue options.
It is like "Gee, I wonder if what I'm doing is good or bod, oh wait, the option is on the right hand so I know it is evil"
>>
>>319955581
Good job proving him right, the APA in new vegas is literally the worst looking power armor in the entire series and laughable compared to 2's or 4's, or even the other armors in 3/NV.

The institute is WAY more morally grey than say... Caesar's Legion.
>>
>>319961536
>What makes them evil?
They remorselessly kidnap, kill, and replace people, enslave sentient humanoids and actively attempt to suppress that sentience (emergent or otherwise), and release their supermutant experiments upon the surface world. They slaughtered the CPG for no clear reason and have wiped out at least one settlement. They may present themselves as humanity's best hope, but everything they do contradicts that. Worse still, you can't ever call them out on this.
>>
>>319956527
So when Todd give you candy, you still prefer Josh's sjw dick inside?
>>
>>319961696
>>319961813
Dude, the worlds in shambles. The Institute can save humanity. That's why it's ambiguous. You moral fags need to get out of your limited viewpoints.

And the Synths aren't fucking human.

They're not perfect, they're fucked. But what they offer is too important. That's why it's ambiguous.
>>
>>319961750
Not really, no. The Institute is basically the Think Tank, but played stupidly straight. The Legion at least has Caesar's ultimate goal of synthesis and demilitarization waiting in the wings. There's no indication that the Institute aims to improve the surface world beyond what Father tells you, which could easily be a placating lie.
>>
>>319962159
>save humanity
From what, exactly?
>>
>>319962159
The world's stabilizing in most places. The Institute are easily the biggest factor in keeping the Commonwealth a shithole.
>>
>>319961904
If Todd made confections, he'd probably take them out of the oven an hour before they were ready, forgot to put any filling into them, and ask you if you wanted to purchase the "Candy Season Pass"
>>
>>319962307
There's no indication that the Legion is anything besides glorified raiders besides what Caesar tells you.
>>
>>319962159
The Institute are literally wiping out stable settlements and nascent governments, on top of spreading fear and paranoia across the region. The surface and humanity at large have not benefited from their discoveries at all, most of which have little practical breakthrough.

I never said Synths were humans. They're almost functionally identical to humans, though (they're actually better), and are just as smart and capable of self-determination. And yet, the Institute oppresses and enslaves them, hunting down any one that tries to escape. For a group of researchers and scientists, they sure don't seem to keen on studying the possibility of emergent intelligence in their revolutionary technology...that they use as a conventional labor source.
>>
>>319962584
Mostly because they're blatantly unfinished
>>
>>319962159
Synths are actually better than humans and creating them was a horrible mistake. The Institute could save the Commonwealth but everyone in it is too busy being absolutely retarded, needlessly hostile, fucking synths, or doing stupid harmful shit to ally with anyone sane. They shit on the progress people were already making, actively sow discord, and are too deep in their shitty moral greyness that comes from having to balance their amazing tech with the crippling weakness that is Bethesda writing, because if they weren't total retards the Wasteland wouldn't be so shit.
>>
>>319962618
*practical value
>>
SO apparently you can finish the game while allied to the Brotherhood, the Minutemen and the Railroad, but is this an actual "ending" or is it more like tricking the game into not closing questlines for you?
>>
>>319962330
Your character doesn't know that. And really it comes down to your views on the future of humanity.

I want to not just restore humanity, but advance beyond what it was before The War.
>Not manipulating The Institute as the director to civilize the wasteland.

>>319962687
The Institute shutting down its cybernetic program was the stupidest goddamned thing they could have done.

>>319962618
Railroads to blame for the settlements getting wiped out, that and bugs in the Synths. The Institute itself actually has tried to help settlements like Diamond City.

And one must question if the Synths are actually sentient or not. Just because they run away sometimes doesn't mean they're sentient; animals run away all the time. And I kinda generally assume that the Institute would, eventually, have dissent on whether the Synths are sentient or not.

And the side that allies with the Synths will win the Institute civil war.

Yeah, real fucking stable.

It's like all you guys just listened to the retards in the Commonwealth and believed them The Institute hasn't really done fucking shit to them. A couple swaps, and a couple accidents, but generally they've been pretty goddamned distant.
>>
>>319963457
there was an incident where various communities of the commonwealth got together to form some sort of government, the institute sent a delegate.

The institute delegate was the only one to leave the meeting alive.

But yeah, sure, the institute dindu nuffin.
>>
>>319963457
>advance beyond what it was
For what purpose?
>>
>>319963457
>Railroads to blame for the settlements getting wiped out, that and bugs in the Synths.
No, University Point was all a deliberate move by the Institute, as was the CPG massacre.

>And one must question if the Synths are actually sentient or not
There's also mountains of evidence suggesting synths are sentient, like the dozen or so synth characters in the game completely unaware of the fact that they are synths. Hell, even an Institute terminal points out that McDonut has become self-aware enough to request a promotion. You can't discuss that contradiction with anyone, though, because it clearly wasn't deliberate on Beth's part.
