Is the new patch gud, /v/?
I like to think so. They removed all of the 9 classes and spending coins and shit to unlock weapons. Instead they have Light, Medium and Heavy armor with nine loadout slots each that can all be specced into more or less the same roles of the classes they had before. I think they nerfed some things too but it has been way too long for me to really notice.
No, I felt the update nerfed my preferable way of playing (Medium classes) really bad. Heavies are impossible to kill.

Medium engineers are broken as hell now. Get a thumper and a shotgun and you can 2v1 anyone at generator/flag with your turret

I dunno. I'm also pissed they took off quick draw. Going double spf + quick draw was some fun I've never had in any other shooter.
I guess I'm mostly complaining because I have to relearn a lot of stuff.

Heavy health is way too high, while it does make them the best defense, it also makes them the best offense which I feel is wrong. Even if you get the altitude advantage on them, they can just chew you away with chain gun and by the time you take them down to 25% hp, you're already dead.
Other than that, I'm glad they did away with most of the "direct upgrade" weapons.
So wait, is there any progression anymore? I join the game, choose my loadout and then what?
Can I upgrade the weapons, or increase my grenade slots or whatnot anymore? I liked having something to shoot for, rather than just playing ad nauseum for rank points.

If anything the progression system in Ascend is actually an anti-feature that limits what a player has available to him.
Now if you compared CS's economy to Credits in Ascend you might've actually had some semblance of a point.
