I didnt bother with sanctuary, too big and takes forever to make a wall, then you have to place turrets in applicable places or enemies shit all over the place. I just said fuck em and made my base at RR.

Charisma is pretty weak all in all, considering even with it maxed out you can still fail speech checks and there isn't a single speech check in the game that makes it worth investing any points in it, only time I sorta wanted a higher CHR was when I had to deal with Danse, otherwise I had zero use for it.

Even Bethesda realized this, that's why they tied settlement building into it.

/v/ taking the shit out of this game made me not want it, I ended up buying it anyway and it's great.

Sure, there are a lot of things that annoy me and that I dislike, but none of those things break the game or ruin it in anyway.

None of the MINOR issues make the game unplayable in anyway, Emphasis on MINOR.

Is it 10/10? No. Is it as good as fallout 3 or even new vegas? No. Is it fun? Yes.

Not really, /v/ is just a bunch of bandwagoning neckbeards.

Fallout 4 is immersive as fuck, I just bought it like a week ago and already have like 20 hours into it.

Yeah there is?

I've beaten fallout 3 more times than I can count, the storyline, and even the sidequests are stale as fuck.

The fallout 4 quests and storyline is new, and fresh to me. So that's a reason to play it.

Even though it's not as good as 3, it's still worth playing.

Like lets use movies as an example.

The boondock saints 2 is not as good as the first movie.

Does that mean I should just watch the first movie twice?

No you fucking autist, it means that I watch the second one and just don't get as hype or enjoy it as much you fucking tard
>>

Yeah, that's my biggest complaint is the character development was simplified to the point of me hating it.

No skill points, tag skills, or any actual character building.. Just perks. I think i have like 3 unspent perk points just because they really don't even fucking matter towards the gameplay.
>>
>>319862393
>What exactly ruins the immersion for you?

The fact that you're given a character with a defined backstory

horrible dialogue (I can't stress this enough, there is zero choice in the dialogue if you want to progress you're just given variations on "Yes, I'll do it")

the game does nothing with unique locations, every new zone you discover is just a place for you to shoot more nameless raiders, no unique events, nothing

everyone sucks your dick the second you do a quest for them, the BoS and Minutemen being the worst offenders

I can't even recommend it to fans of F3, it's just a horrible roleplaying game.
>>
>>319862660

It just amazing how much they didn't improve from Skyrim, it's literally exactly the same. And I know all Bethesda games are basically the same, but all the other ones get such high reviews for all having the same problems, I guess people are finally seeing them.

Like all the problems reviewers listed for Fallout 4, Skyrim also has, and that's like a fucking 94 on metacritic for some reason.

>Having appreciable depth to the mechanics that the player can look into.
They're not mutually exclusive and they're completely different. Other games, even ones that aren't casualised or dumbed down, for example, Morrowind, explain the basic rules behind their mechanics, like whether there's a fucking limit to how much stuff you can place.

nah boondock saints 2 was still good /v/ just can't rate things.
Boondock saints was a fucking masterpiece, it was perfection, 100 percent perfection. Expecting that perfection to come again sets you up for failure.

Like with fallout 2. Fallout 2 is the definition of videogame perfection. If I expected bethesda to SOMEHOW make fallout 3 better than fallout 2 I would have absofuckinglutely hated fallout 3. But I didnt expect them to top masterpiece.

That's like saying anything DaVinci painted after the mona lisa is shit because it wasn't better than the mona lisa.

Everyone on /v/ wears a fedora, don't they?
>>
>>319862882
a-atleast the game looks nicer and you can create your character more extensively.

There's no point in arguing about this game, honestly. Bethesda knows their target audience, and it's one that doesn't care about all the things 'we' care about. Bethesda and its games are the Starbucks of video games.
>>

honestly for what it was, i had fun with fallout 4 because it was one of those games where it was so vague i could just come up with my own story. so i basically just killed off an entire island of mirelurks and built myself a post-apoc throne like i was one of the warlords from lisa: the joyful. but even then, i didn't put 238 hours into new vegas to be suckered by bethesda. these are the problems i had with fallout 4:

>bethesda butchered the lore again (no shit, i don't need to elaborate)
>no hardcore mode, survival difficulty is the best we've got but even stimpaks in hardcore mode worked almost instantly
>no skill checks
>no weapon/armor degradation
>no dual wielding brass knuckle(s)
>nearly every weapon suffers from what i call "prefixed weapon syndrome" a la borderlands where the basic weapons are all randomized. it adds variety, yeah, but i don't want to have to choose between a pansexual styrofoam suppressed assault rifle or a janitor's sparkling coochie-ripper assault rifle. just give me a fucking assault rifle
>companions can't die unless you modify the fallout4.ini file
>settlers can't die unless you install a mod
>all the endings are shit
>the brotherhood is portrayed as what they aren't: the lawful good high tech lawbringers in power armor whose sole job is to keep the wasteland a safe place to protect it from all evil
among other things.

This was the single most retarded quest/event in the entire game. He was stuck in there for 210 years and acts as if he'd been trapped for half an hour. His parents live 5 fucking minutes away. In two centuries nobody has ever walked through that area, which is right next to a street ffs, nothing has ever knocked the fridge over and the fridge has never rusted or deteriorated enough to be pushed open.

Whoever designed that quest must've been legitimately retarded.

This is a good thing

No? they were like this in FO3 and FO3NV
They were the token good guys.

In FO4 they're actually kinda dicks and sorta on the same level of hitler, wanting to exterminate all life that doesn't coincide with what the brotherhood views as Ideal

>bethesda butchered the lore again (no shit, i don't need to elaborate)
No shit, even obsidian butchered the lore. The lore isn't ever going to go back to interplay's interpretation, you just have to get used to the way bethesda interprets the lore,
>nearly every weapon suffers from what i call "prefixed weapon syndrome" a la borderlands where the basic weapons are all randomized. it adds variety, yeah, but i don't want to have to choose between a pansexual styrofoam suppressed assault rifle or a janitor's sparkling coochie-ripper assault rifle. just give me a fucking assault rifle
There's actually no instance of this, unless you're talking legendary spawns in which case, you can only have one prefix, the rest of the prefixes are attachments.

In the original fallout and fallout 2, jet was actually found in a LOT of locations that were NEVER touched since the war.

So that issue you're crying about, with pre-war jet has always occurred

>While it is said that Myron created jet, Mrs. Bishop says that she got hooked on jet by John Bishop (before they got married) and for that she got kicked out of Vault City, which would require jet to be much older than Myron is. According to Chris Avellone, what Mrs. Bishop says is a mistake and is not canon. It is more likely that Bishop got her hooked on some other drug. Consistent use of jet will have muddled Mrs. Bishop's perceptions in any case.

Fallout 2 had Mrs. Bishop getting addicted to Jet before Jet even existed.

So what are your ideas for the (hopefully) inevitable Obsidian Fallout?

>setting includes the Boneyard
>you can be a merchant or a raider-boss
>instead of settlements you build outposts focused on trade-routes or territorial control
>you can either work with the NCR (merchant) or fight against them (raider)
>can build small attack-squads and plan raids on cities or caravans
>can customize and equip members of your posse

Alternatively, you could have the NCR as a 3rd path, with you rising through the ranks and managing local outposts and logistics.

>vertibirds absolutely everywhere pre-war
When the bombs are falling, you put every asset into service, even the prototypes.

>BOS are now about destroying technology, not preserving it
I think you're high.

>T60 power armor pulled out of their asses
I mean, probably, but why do you think they would stop power armor advancement at T-51? War was everywhere.

>once again no semblance of civilization emerging on the east-cost
Raiders, mutants, radiation, and pre-war experiments like deathclaws would make rebuilding a major civilization pretty hard.
>>
>>319864506
No, finding the fedora and the skeleton in the fridge in NV was a reference to that. And it was funny, because in this case notIndy dies like a bitch because even a leadlined fridge isn't going to save you from being in the blast radius of an atom bomb, as opposed to the movie where he survives totally unscathed.

The kid, locked for 200 years in a fridge, with no food or water, not even 5 minutes away from his parents, is just fucking retarded and no level of suspension of disbelief can make it not retarded.

continued.

one of the biggest issues i have with fallout 4 is (like fallout 3) it's absolutely humorless. aside from a couple charismatic companions and token 'funny' moments, a lot of the natural dark humor that was present with the interplay/obsidian fallout games is completely gone. fallout new vegas took place in a desolate, sandy wasteland and knew when to get serious, but the entire experience was just significantly more fun and memorable than fallout 3 and 4.

>Voice directing is provided by Sam "Riegal Sam" Riegel
>YOU WANT SOME WEAPON SCHEMATICS? I CAN SHOW YOU SOME FUCKING WEAPON SCHEMATICS
>YOU WANT A SUPERHEATED SATURNITE POWER FIST? I CAN HOOK THAT SHIT UP
there was just something more fucking memorable about the 'classic' fallout games, but i've sunk the most hours into new vegas so it's stuck with me the most.
honestly, 'accepted apocalypse' sort of scenarios are the ones i like the most--shit like new vegas or maybe LISA or hellmoo to some extent. not really a "oh shit, the bomb dropped. we're gonna fucking die, dude" kind of scenario but more a "oh shit, the bomb dropped. let's kick back, have a beer and deal with it" kind of scenario.

The Institute isn't token evil, either. The Institute is realistically humanities best hope for the future of the wasteland, they're just going about it in an evil way.

And the railroad I don't know enough about yet because I ignored them on my first playthrough.
>>
>>319865389
The one difference that really makes me dislike Bethesda's Fallout compared to Obsidian's Fallout is the utter lack of rebuilding going on in the east.
They did that in FO3 and they repeated the same crap in FO4. Everything looks like it's only been a few decades since the bombs dropped instead of two centuries. Streets and buildings are cluttered with debris still left over from the war, even though people actually live there.
The whole game looks like nobody has done any kind of cleaning up since the radiation cleared, or rebuilding, or repainting etc. It ties into Bethesda's bullshit idea of making the whole place look 'post-apocalypticy'.

By contrast, the west-coast has actually started rebuilding long ago, has something resembling a nation-state emerging and has a detailed history of civilization returning from the brink after the war.
It's much, much more consistent on what people would really do, instead of wallowing in stagnation to preserve that shanty-town look.
The fact that you can only build clunky, uneven and half-broken-down walls and houses for your settlements in FO4 points to that as well. If you are already breaking materials down to rebuild, why do all of your constructions look like shit? Why can't you just saw a few planks of wood from all the trees and nail them together evenly? Why does it have to look like the hut you just built has been ravaged by decay for decades already?
>>
>>319866034
But you can't side with the enclave. This twat said he sided with the enclave.

True, but the problem I found with House, and the reason I usually side against him, is that he is an arrogant perfectionist who wants to discard humanity and the Earth because things didn't work out the way he wanted to.

If he were to go through with his plan and settle on another planet, things would only turn out as before, since he is still stuck in the same pre-war mentality and has learned nothing. He wants to throw everything away and start over every time something goes wrong, instead of fixing it.

I could never get autistic enough to build something like that. There is no pay-off and the game doesn't acknowledge it either.
I mean, you basically built an entire town, larger than Diamond City, but since every single aspect of the game is designed to be optional, it has no impact at all.

I could understand spending so much time with the awful building mode and constantly toggling tcl to align objects, provided it'd have an effect on the game. Like caravans travelling in and out, actual people in the streets, maybe your own radio-station.

The game is full of contrived coincidences like that. Your family getting accepted literally minutes before the bombs drop, the Vault Tec guy still being in Boston after 200 years and just randomly running into you at the hotel, Nick Valentine's quest with the guy he was chasing still being in that fucking shelter after all this time, not to mention all his tapes still being intact and exactly where they were left before the war.

One of the most idiotic things is also: Sturges can somehow pull the knowledge to build the teleport-interceptor out of his ass, but cannot hack a terminal at the start to get to the fusion core and use the power armor himself.
