the best vtmb experience is clan quest mod with camarilla mod enabled (optional part of the installer).
The blood loss makes you feel like a vampire as opposed to it being a blue mana pool you suck out of people
despite being harder than vanilla it is counter-balanced by powerful disciplines, malks are wrecking balls when you max their dementation shit out... also lots of dialogue easy mode choices

There's rats everywhere, and with fortitude+protean you won't take any damage from the geodudes. Sometimes I like to ball up all of them and laugh as they do puny damage and then wipe them all out

Finance, any skill that raises Scholarship past 5 or 6, any combat skill you're not going to use, Computer if you remember the passwords, Seduction and Intimidate since Persuasion works just as well.
Of course, if you're RPing, then some of these skills are still 'viable' and you should put points into Computer if you feel your character should and its your first run.
