I just realised that Nick Valentine from Fallout 4 is a reference to Pero from Metropolis. They look similar, dress the same, have the same job, and also have the same looking injuries to boot.

The movie is just Metropolis? When did it come out?

Why are you posting this thread again, OP?

Nah... both just wanted that 40s generic detective costume look. That's all.
>>
This isn't the first time we've seen an Android PI character, seems to be a lesser known trope that shows up from time to time.

Metropolis, Fallout 4, The Big O, hell even Penny Arcade made a series of comics about one.
There's probably a lot more examples out there, probably in books as well

why did they get so shit?
>>
>>319723385
Well, they were bought by Zenimax in 2002. It's kind of a miracle Morrowind turned out as well as it did.
>>
>>319715015
Theres also a movie made almost a century ago called Metropolis that a lot of directors today, namely tim burton, took inspiration from. Dunno if the anime is in any way related to it though.

did you really expect people to not know metropolis of 1927? It's super iconic, everyone knows about it

I didn't know about it. I just thought robot noire cops was some sort of trope

>>319725024
original metropolis didn't have robot cops

they're only tangentially related, really

He's just a robot version of Bogart's noir detectives ie Sam Spade and Phillip Marlowe. He's not a homage to anything except Bogart, the same goes for those other weeb robo detectives.
>>
What I wanna know is, is Valentine only restricted to pipe weapons, or revolves?

Also I gave danse pieces of spare power armor, but it seems he's equipped them, and when I take them off he just doesn't use his old armor.

OP, Thank you for mentioning this movie. I have had faint memories of watching this once with my father way back when it first came out but I forgot the title and I've only had little memories of what the movie scenes looked like. I've been looking for it for a Looong time because I wanted to rewatch this and refresh my memory of what this movie actually was.

You made my day, OP. Thank You.

I'm gonna go watch this movie now.

Pretty sure even Blade Runner had allusions to Deckard being a replicant, and it also runs a bit of a parallel to Fallout 4's entire synths plot.
>>
>>319726498
No problem man, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did rewatching it. Have a good one.

Assuming you're only talking about the film, sure.
