It depends. NFC chips have a very small amount of memory. Some games use it, such as Smash and Mario Party. Those can only be used with one fame like that at a time. For games where it just unlocks shit like Mario Maker, use it as much as you want. It doesn't delete your Smash data because it isn't using it. It's just like the Wii remote, not that anybody ever used it that way.

At least with it being attached to a physical figure, you can resell it, and will always be able to track down the content well after the digital stores that host DLC go down. And they are playing their consoles less and less and more and more are starting to sell their consoles because the games aren't there and what games are require far too much of an upfront and long term investment to enjoy.
The majority of the gamers are still on last gen systems and are showing no signs of ever moving. Everyone knows that.
Even worse, the below 20 year olds do not give a shit about current gen nor do they know the first fucking thing about it. All of the games they want to play are last gen and not nearly as buggy as next gen. And all of the AAA game content creators aren't stupid enough to go current gen only till the last gen decide to move on up.
Even trying to forcefully sunset last gen consoles will only result in a total drop in sales and interest from the vast majority of consumers rather then an adoption of the current gen.
And with no one putting out anything save for AAA games that have become buggier costlier and more same and EVERYONE is getting fucking bored of and freeware garbage tier indie games...there's going to be a major crash. And it's going to not be a gigantic boom, but a slow obvious deflation one that will speed up exponentially till there is nothing left.
If there isn't a budget conscious console out there, that's cheap to dev for and get games for, that mid tier and lower devs can put out games on, that attracts casuals, that makes the kids eyes light up, that lights a fire under the ass of the "KORE GAYMERS" then it's fucking over.
