Who cares, dude? Why are people so angry about this? As long as you're not the one to pay up it doesn't mean anything.

I'm glad it's getting funded by other people's money. If it's good, great. If it's bad, we didn't pay for shit and get to mock those who did.

Do they even hide the fact anymore that the funders are mostly Tim's friends, who have considerable cash?

Bloodstained had 65k contributors for 5 mil,
Shenmue had 70k contributors for 6.3 mil, Psychonauts has 14k for 2.4

The only people giving to that are neogafers giving whatever they can of mommy and daddy's money and Tim libtard San Fran well to do buddies. It's basically an art project

Well after this what else can he use to bank on nostalgia? That's really the main thing. Broken Age was made to bank on the nostalgia of Lucasarts' old adventure games, Psychonauts 2 is made to bank on the nostalgia of the first game. Nobody even cares about the other games they make.

Why would anyone trust Double Fine with anything? Especially after Hack n' Slash and Spacebase DF-9. They haven't even come out with a real game since Brutal Legend. Costume Quest was an hour long and Stacking barely any longer. Not to mention Broken Age having a terrible second half.

>>
>>319677234
Because muh Grim Fandango and muh Psychonauts. There's no reason to expect this won't be the underwhelming of the decade.
>>
>>319677234
What I don't get is how he got away with abandoning Spacebase. When a developer abandons an early access game, people who bought it want their heads because they feel robbed. Why is Schafer still some vidya messiah?
>>
>>319673341

Okay, so I'm going to be totally serious about my position on this "should I trust Tim Schafer?" issue. I know nobody asked for it, but I feel like I kind of have to say it.

I backed Double Fine Adventure and ultimately didn't enjoy it (it's not a bad game exactly, it just didn't fit the remit of a classic adventure game), I didn't back Massive Chalice, and I think the Space Base issues were handled very badly.

I'm still going to give money to Psychonauts 2. I've never played the first one, and I probably never will.

This year I had a beloved series of mine come back on Kickstarter to triple record-breaking success, and I saw a lot of people who had never played the series pledge because they wanted to see the fans of Shenmue get what they want.

That's why I'm throwing in for Psychonauts 2 despite no connection for the series, or much love for Double Fine. I know there are lofty expectations, but in good faith at least based on the desire to do right by fans, I think if the game is funded it will turn out fine. Effectively, I want to thank any Psychonauts fans who helped make Shenmue III happen, by making Psychonauts 2 a thing.

I'm going to pledge not for Tim Schafer, but for the fans. I think they are the ones who will ultimately lose out if this doesn't happen. Tim and Double Fine will move on to another project, and that'll be that. The fans will get left in the dust thinking about what could have been, and that sucks.

So that's why I'm throwing in for Psychonauts 2.
>>
>>319677664
He's not and he didn't get away with it. There was an uproar for about 2 days and then people stopped caring, cause that was that and they really couldn't milk it any farther until Broken Age.

This is you, retard.

You see, a smart person that wanted to see psychonauts 2 happen, would let double fine go bankrupt and go out of business, because they would then sell the IP to an actually competent company that isn't run by tim the ultimate greedy kike schaefer

I never got these kind of photos. Is it ironic that he's doing stupid things with a large amount of money? Like a hahahaha money doesn't really matter to me so let's see how many times I can one up the lighting a cigar with a hundred dollar bill cliche.

Makes him seem like an immature fuck up and it's no wonder he doesn't give a fuck he basically stole 3.3 million dollars when he creates like 10 of these photos.

Like imagine working at this guy's studio and one of your shifts he's running around with thousands of dollars in bills trying to take funny "so rich I don't give a shit" photos with it.

You'd lose faith in him as a creator and businessman and the fucking idiots who gave him those hundred dollar bills.

These people aren't artists, they're fuckfaces with wheelbarrows of money. Which is the image he's ironically trying to capitalize with these shots.
>>
so hyped for this. happy to give Tim my money.
>>
>>319673341
you know its actually quite reasonable to give you Psychonauts 1 & 2 digitally for $40.

THe original is great on its own and in 3 years you get sent a code for the sequel. Like the minimum pledge for Bloodstained was $60 which I found very steep to ask based on concept art and a neat video, but $40? that's not such a huge investment, most people (psychonaut fans especially) would be happy just to buy the original again and in the process fund the development of a sequel.

good games take time to make, and with the original folks on board i am all for it.
