Dragon Quest Heroes doesn't require that. After the 'big' enemies are dead, at the end of a stage, the little ones just run away. Have you even played it?
PS3 version like every Koei port plus it's a shit musou. Play a better one like Pirate Warriors or Samurai warriors 4-II

There are plenty of stages where you have to kill all the enemies to progress to the next part and some where the only objective is actually just kill absurd amounts of enemies. Perhaps you've just blanked them from your memory - I wouldn't blame you, they're really dull and don't make much of an impression.

At least they can provide some challenge on the hardest difficulty. 4-II literally has invincibility for 30 seconds and invincibility and time slowdown for 90 seconds on command. It's braindead easy
