In general I love DaS but I do have to admit such parts are forced artificial difficulty and not fun.

That is the one gripe with the souls series in general. They sometimes blur the lines between difficult and artificially difficult. Having to play a poorly designed segment repeatedly isn't fun or actually difficult. Its just frustrating, mind numbing and generally reflects the poor development.

Now yes challenging content like soloing Manus or Artorias for the first time was difficultly done right. More of that and less bullshit hitboxes.

The slow on-rails section on the vehicle, you know, the one at night with you sniping the cameras.

I hate that level. Or really, any level involving being on a monorail.

Thankfully, Vanquish has a level-select system once you've beaten the game, so you never have to do that part again, unless you're trying to beat a harder difficulty.

Stop whining. That is literally one of the few parts of the game where you are required to put in some effort and where you can't just run past enemies. I wish the Souls games had more sections like this that forced you to be clever and use more than 1-2 braincells at a time.

No, I'm saying that it's one of the few parts of the game that actually force you into a challenge head on instead of just presenting it to you and giving you the option to run away like a coward or cheese.

All you need to beat this section is to have slightly better reflexes than a braindead retard so that you can run up to the right Silver Knight at the right time and parry his ass. Or use the properties of collision to make him get out his sword and push him off the ledge (by holding a shield up next to him, which will cause him to fall off when he strikes you with a sword).

Fuck. That's like the only bad part about Okami.

I don't know why Kamiya wants you to sit through it all at such an excruciatingly slow pace.
>>
>>319631690
Kamiya had nothing to do with the Wii or HD versions of the game.

It's my favorite game ever and I agree with you. I wish there was some way to skip past the tutorial level on repeat playthroughs.

Same shit as KH2.
>>
>>319631826
It was in the PS2 version as well. The only version of Okami that allowed you to speed up and skip the intro cutscene was the Wii version.

I really don't know why they didn't keep it for the PS3 version.

If the eventual PS4 remaster version comes out, I really hope you can skip the cutscenes. They really make new playthroughs a pain to do.

I hope that one day, maybe Nintendo will buy out Capcom and give P* the rights to God Hand, Okami and Viewtiful Joe.
It's not so much that Kamiya isn't going back to Capcom. He's said MULTIPLE times that he wants to do sequels to all of his Clover games, Okami especially. It's mainly that Capcom are fucking assholes and refuse even consider letting P* work with the IPs.

That's a shame, Spirit Tracks actually did away with the shit where you have to do the same dungeon areas over and over again. You still had to go back to the central tower but you never had to revisit the floors you'd already done, you could skip straight to the new ones.

Spirit Tracks is 10x the game Phantom Hourglass was - people just hate on it because 'muh trains autism' and because Phantom Hourglass set such a bad example

Ratchet and Clank 2 in my opinion.

The first game has a couple "oh I'm up to THIS part" but never an entire level, meanwhile 2 has not bits at all that I actively not look forward to.

And maybe Uncharted 2, the only meh section the Mueseum level which is the first one, so it's over before you can even think about which parts you are dreading.

Apart from those, I can't think of any of my favourite games that don't have "that section".

Don't try to slur your notes. Just play one note at a time, and the timing isn't too harsh on it. If you're having trouble stopping the blowing, move the DS away from you when you stop blowing then move it back when you start blowing again.

It's definitely the weak point of the game though, which is a shame, since I think the rest of it is top notch. It did exploration and side quests much better than Phantom Hourglass.

If only it wasn't so hard to get the Golden Train set

>I think the rest of it is top notch.
Train exploration is way, way WAY too slow for its own good, and Zelda's movement controls are unnecessarily cumbersome considering they could have used the controls for little goron + bombchus from PH as a framework for how Zelda functioned. I could see that ST clearly had a lot of additional content laid out, but I had no desire to go after it because the train was so frustrating to put up with.

In spite of that, Spirit Tracks wins major MAJOR points in my book for constantly introducing new ideas throughout both Tower of the Spirits and the separate dungeons, and always holding the player's intelligence in high regard. If I could get a rerelease of PH and ST that just had me go through dungeons, I would buy it in a heartbeat. Final boss fight was excellent from start to finish, too.

>If I could get a rerelease of PH and ST that just had me go through dungeons, I would buy it in a heartbeat.
I often have found myself wishing for the same thing. The dungeons in those games were great: clever, varied, and short-but-sweet. The only downfall is that neither game had enough of them.

My perfect top-down Zelda game would be a game with PH/ST style controls and dungeons, 14-16 dungeons (thus beating Link To The Past's dungeon record), and an overworld like A Link Between Worlds whereby you can do the dungeons in a non-linear order and there isn't any vehicle/travel gimmickry thrown in (horse, boat, train, bird etc).

If they really wanted to go overboard on that, a second quest with the same overworld but 14-16 more dungeons would push it to an 11 out of 10.

>Train exploration is way too slow

Yeah, I agree on that. Not having the warp spells at any time sucks, especially how long it takes to get the really good warp gates. But I did like how much more there was in New Hyrule compared to Realm of the Ocean King, especially having to keep an eye out for the Rabbits.

When it gets to combat on the train, I like the tenseness it can bring when you have to slam the reverse gear on your train to dodge two Demon Trains trying to trap you. Also, the final tunnel spider fight when you're transporting the Dark Ore is great too. I can see it being a 'like it or hate it' situation though

>Zelda
Didn't have much of a problem with her, didn't think she and the Goron kid played that differently.

Dungeons and bosses are the highpoint of the games, definitely. The invisible crab in PH is my personal fav, having to aim from a different perspective was great
>>
>>319645426
I more or less agree with that, although I feel that, if they could find some sort of streamlined compromise between the circlepad movement of LBW and the stylus aiming of the DS titles,

I can't help but feel that PH, ST, LBW, and TFH are made by similar groups of developers, or at least have the same dungeon designers. All those games have absolutely, gorgeously-paced dungeons that never interrupt their own flow with unnecessary bullshit and always find new ways to incorporate the given item(s). If my suspicion is true, I'd love to see those folks work on a larger-scale Zelda game.
>>
>>319645782
Well, I wouldn't be against a game that had the ALBW control scheme but with the map system of Phantom Hourglass. Being able to take notes on the map was cool, and they did a few interesting puzzles with it. That and being able to draw the boomerang paths were the main draws of the stylus controls for me, although I'm sure they could make it possible to draw boomerang paths with the circle pad somehow
>>
>>319645567
Don't get me wrong, the increased overworld variety is great, and the few times where train combat has significant tension are also very strong, but the general pace when getting between areas felt really slow to me. It's a shame, too, because they clearly had good ideas for the train - the pacman-esque bit near the end, the Demon Train fight, and the

>didn't think she and the Goron kid played that differently.
The key difference between the way they control is that the goron kid is controlled "directly" by the player, like Link - the stylus is dragged in a direction, goron follows that direction. Zelda, by contrast, has to have a path drawn /before/ she can move, and I felt like this choice, along with her plodding movement speed, damaged the pace in Tower of the Spirits. I would've liked to see Zelda's control treated more exactly like Link's, with path-drawing being an additional option for when it may be necessary (preferably while the arrow stays in the center of the screen rather than the player needing to push the arrow to the edge to pan the camera). Overall, I still enjoyed my time with ST, more than a few other Zelda games, anyway.

>Dungeons and bosses are the highpoint of the games, definitely. The invisible crab in PH is my personal fav, having to aim from a different perspective was great
My personal favorite was Skeldritch from ST. Excellent conclusion to one of my favorite dungeons in the series.

Console command your character
>>
>>319641014
If I could play through the whole game on that skateboard I would
>>
>>319646245
Yeah, possibly, but if full circle pad control meant less convenient use of tools like the boomerang, then I'd probably pick stylus controls, instead. For general movement, I think a control stick feels much better, but for item use, the touch screen was used fantastically.

Map puzzles in the two games were good, but I hope they would try to stay original with them. PH started to get a little silly with PULL THE LEVERS IN THIS ORDER stuff, although the whale-shaped island was brilliant. I also hated the puzzle in ST where you were supposed to connect the lines of sight of the large statues in the desert, because it was impossible to tell the exact direction in which they were looking. Most of the other face-statue puzzles in ST were good, at least, and map-marking is an excellent tool for exploration, if nothing else.
