Pretty much everywhere I go on the internet, someone yelling about Sony and its not people simply venting mild annoyances, it's people spitting straight up vitriol about the company, they really hate Sony but my question is just why?

By competing with everybody and washing the floor with their faces and holding way over 50% market share, of course you're gonna have a lot of angry fanboys around. Ah I don't find any of these problems. I don't give a fuck about sony for the same reason I don't give a fuck about any of the companies. None of them do it perfectly right. You are right with all those complaints. PSN is still hot garbage, even though it's now running sales quite often, but charging for online is inexcusable. I liked plus back then and it was legitimately the best deal there was on the ps3. I played so many quality and expensive games with it, such as Demon's Souls, inFamous, Dragon's Crown and Dragon's Dogma. The value was simply over the top and I couldn't even understand how they could be able to turn in a profit by letting these games go free.
But now it's a hot piece of garbage. I'm glad I don't actually pay for it though because I do that account swapping thing with a friend of mine so I take advantage of his Plus subscription and we have access to each other game's. That's a HUGE pro in Sony's favor by the way. As long as you have a friend with a ps4, you can save a LOT.
Even though I don't like their policies regarding PSN, aside from the thing about sharing games which I find simply great, I still like them much more than any other company because of these simple facts:
1 - They actively support the japanese industry more than anyone else even though they are deep in the red
2 - Microsoft's policies with the xbone, windows 10 and kinect are downright evil and disgusting. I also hate them introducing paid online (not taking away sony's blame from following suit though, make no mistake) and DLCs as well as making trash like COD popular and mainstream. They are EXTREMELY rich and do absolutely NOTHING with their money. They could fund whatever project they could possibly dream off and we they do what? Oh yeah, buy minecraft. Yay.
3 - Steam doesn't care about anyone and is trying to fuck with consumers (subscriptions/pai mods). They ignore their fans' plea to make games because they are swimming in dosh already.
4 - Nintendo gave the middle finger to their core fanbase and panders to non-gamers, make toy-DLCs and now smartphone games. Again, lots of money and nada.

Idk myself. I am pretty biased though. I have a PS4 that I use for most of my gaming, though I use my computer for smaller games and online ones. I love my PS4, I know it was released already worse than the PC and as time goes on it only gets more worse in comparison, but it only costed my $400. All the games I buy for it fucking work, never have any problems people seem to have with the PC. I've put in almost 6 pure days into Fallout 4 and have seen hardly any glitches or frame rate drops. Sure its in 30 FPS but the PS4 makes it look fucking great. Or good enough for me it least. Overall, Idk why Sony gets the hate, I'm just using this post to type out my appreciation for my PS4 that I have thanks to Sony's gaming department.

On /v/ and most forums, I think it's more sony fans that get hate more than sony itself. They're a zealous lot, though I really think that's at least partially because people keep trying to rile them up. It's a vicious cycle.
Though Sony also a long and storied history of using proprietary hardware gimmicks in order to lock customers into their ecosystems. I don't think they're as into it as they used to be, but the Vita's storage scheme is probably the most recent example.
