As of TTK, there's an actual goddamn story in the game now, and the gameplay is actually interesting enough to keep at it, at least for longer that Halo 5: Combat of Duty Evolved.
Seriously, everything that was different about Halo from other shooters was swiftly bend over and fucked up the ass the moment 343 picked it up. The first thing to go was visual design. New Spartans look like garbage, Prometheans are literally the most boring enemies imaginable with the worst weapons the franchise has ever seen. Story has taken a dive into fanfiction-tier "CORTANA IS A REAL GIRL NOW AND SHE'S EVIL!" schlock. Gameplay loses more and more of itself every time.
Destiny is grindy, and that's a problem. But at least what you get is interesting enough to tune in next time. At least the gameplay has a modicum of fun mixed in.

It's really good, it's Magicka + Alien Swarm + Starship Troopers. They really seem to have tried to add longevity, since twinstick shooters usually don't have a lot of it. There's three different factions, customization/upgrades, and a metagame.
The only problem is the way they ported the DLC is really shitty.

If you really like it, then buy the deluxe version for all the DLC.
If you're on the fence though, wait for the winter sale so you can get it for cheap.
You can look though the DLC and see if you want anything, and if you want more than 20 bucks worth of it, the deluxe is the only way to go. 20 extra for deluxe or 40 for the DLC is really not great. I don't think they thought out that part of the port very well.
