Alright, /v/, I've been offered a position as assistant manager at a Gamestop...and I'm not entirely sure I want to take it. I'll make more money than I make at my current job, but having to deal with dudebros who don't know about shit but Call of Duty as well as the basement dwellers who only crawl out of their caves to get more games and restock their Doritos and mountain dew supplies sounds torturous. Anyone ever worked at GS and have experiences to share/encouragement/discouragement?

side note, it wouldn't be a permanent career or anything. I am a college student and I major in Journalism and IT. So even if it would kinda suck, it would only suck for about 2 years

Never work in a management position in retail, unless you have to.
It's gay as shit.

This is OP. I gotta admit, I chuckled
It's a super easy job except for November, December, and January. Just process shipments in the morning alone until the next employee shows up at around 1pm, help customers, clean the store, answer the phone, handle returns and trade-ins, train new hires, read emails hourly, conference calls weekly and sometimes daily. Standard retail stuff.
Working in retail is generally shit. If you're willing to take some shit (or some amount more than you're currently taking) for some extra money, then do it. If you care about how much you enjoy the experience, then don't.

I'm already in retail. I was the master tech (i.e., guy that made house calls) for a Staples before they closed and now I work at J.C. Penneys, which is fucking miserable. Basically I fold clothes and get yelled at by old white women.
