Dropping the AoC and adopting the Constitution was not aimed at making the union permanent and concrete, it was to make sure that the union could function in its then-current form. It made it so that states could not operate as semi-independent countries within the union, but had no bearing as to whether they could leave and act independently on their own. The idea was to make ground rules for being in the union, not to in any way demote states to provinces subservient to DC.

Best ACW game iv ever played was Sid Meiers Gettysburg, it was awesome because its cutscenes were scenes from the film Gettysburg and I think most of the VA work was done by the actors from the movie in tandem with the movie.
It was the inspiration for Ultimate General Gettysburg, which is funny considering Sid Meiers Gettysburg blows it out of the fucking water in terms of mechanics, strategic options and depth, pretty god damn good for a game that came out in like 1998.
