Just to clarify, I can't play the first two Fallouts because the turn-based combat doesn't do it for me, so no nostalgia.
However I love ARPGs like Diablo, Victor Vran, Path of Exile etc., so I'm curious how a real-time isometric Fallout would play.

If your stats aren't high enough in wasteland/you're not well equipped enough you can't ran away as easily or abuse AI pathing as easily.

Say, if you're outleveled by those giant fuckbots in wasteland 2, you can't just out range it or run into a building and hide, plinking it to death.

Twin-stick shooter done pretty basic. So it's not as good as shit like CoN or DA.
I'd play a realtime isometric modern fallout. Wasteland was enjoyable but even it's combat was basic as fuck. No cover system, no way of leaning around walls, no quick intuitive way to activate sneak mode for everyone, etc.

I don't play wasteland 2 because the battles and statistics are poorly balanced. Unlike Fallout 1, you're constantly missing or dealing shit amounts of damage. I can play FO1 and Arcanum just fine. Wasteland 2 is just poorly designed.

Fonline works (mostly) in real-time. You still have action points, and they regenerate only when You are not moving Your character. You can still aim with vats, but those extra clicks takes too much time in real time mode. You can use binds to set what body part You want to aim at every time You attack. I recommend trying fonline: reload.

I just replayed FO2. I can see why people find them teidious or slow-paced, but it's still incredibly fun.

I don't see why you would want new games made in that fashion though, except for nostalgia purposes. I thought it mostly existed to overcome programming limitations of the 1990s anyway.

Wasteland 2 did it well though.
