you can barely run any game on ultra at that framerate and resolution even with a titan x

>tfw want a 144hz monitor but only have a 770 so probably wouldnt get anywhere near that.
Hope you also have a Razer gaming mouse, mechanical keyboard and a sweet pair of Gunnars for that eye strain, and a DX Racer Gaming chair OP
Otherwise how're you going to own those scrubs at CS:GO? Step your game up OP
I'm always going to go with higher resolution because competitive gaming is a meme.
>>319554012
then run it on medium.
>>319554012
So just run it in high?
The human eye can't see more than 24 fps anyway
Agreed. Got a 144z monitor and now 60fps feel like a shitty meme. It's 120 what the minimum needs to be
>>319554238
Why not play it on PS4 for the true console experience?
>>319554160
I like mechanical keyboards strictly for typing. It just feels good. I want to eat the way it feels.

These are the people that bought betamax to the very end.
>tfw too scared to make the leap to 144hz because I'm a poorfag and it's going to be one those things where once I've gotten a taste of 144fps, it'll never accept anything less.
It was that way when I upgraded from a 20" 1680x1050 monitor to a 24" 1920x1080 monitor. I was happy with the 1680x1050 monitor, but then 1920x1080 spoiled me and now my old monitor feels so small that I could never go back to it.
I don't know about you guys, but I'm going to milk 1080p 60fps for as long as possible while putting my fingers in my ears and going lalalalalala. I know that 1440p @ 144hz is the best for gaming right now, but that setup is EXPENSIVE.

>>319554146
Better than 60
Playing Metro Last Light, Tomb Raider and Crysis 3 above 100fps completly maxed out was totally worth it.
>>319554339
I still own a Model M keyboard.
The sound it makes is orgasmic.
why 144hz and not 150? 1/144th of a second isn't even a finite number, meaning it literally can't be stable
>>319554717
I think I'll wait for the Rift/Vive to be out before considering whether to move up to 1440p/4K or not.
1440p/144Hz IPS/VA/OLED screens would be perfect.

>not buying three 165hz 2560x1440p IPS monitors

>>319555048
It's a multiple of 24, prevents jitter when watching 24fps movies, and potentially 48fps if any are ever released.

I'm glad more people are now realizing this. 60 FPS is no longer acceptable.
>>319555762
Tomb Raider even runs in silky smooth 1440p/144fps capped.
>>319555578
It's an overclock, those displays don't actually ship set to 165hz, and what it gains in frame rate it loses in response time, resulting in a marginal improvement at best. That display is still a native 144hz.
>>319555187
>16:9
no thanks
>Needing more than 60FPS
I bet you think 4K is viable
I want to sell mine but too bored to go through the process.
144Hz is not that great with a TN panel.
No thanks, I don't really need more than 1080p/stead 60fps.
GRAFFIX are killing video games.
Is the word meme a meme?
Is asking if things are memes in itself a meme?
Are you a meme? Is everything a fucking meme?
>tfw 980 ti w/ XB270HU
...Actually it's not that impressive. Hardware isn't ready to make the jump to 1440 yet. Stay at 1080, kids.
What are the specs I want for a TV for console gaming? I currently have a 46" Sony Bravia LCD that I bought in 2010.
Will they differ if I want a 4k TV that upscales?
How can I be sure I bought a 4k TV that upscales? Will doing this give me input lag when gaming?
>>319556679
>i WANT to upscale
you're a brave motherfucker
When do you start seeing a noticeable difference from 60fps?
In Witcher 3 it felt noticeable better around 72-84.
Around 84-96 seems to be the next step up for me (fallout 4), but after that it all gets blurred unless i'm getting a steady 120 or 144 in the game (indie trash, old games, half-life 2)
I want to buy the 2k 144hz TN panel dell. Any Anons here have it and can tell me anything about it?
>Buy 144hz monitor
>Temperature on 980ti jumps to 60°C on idle but low 30°C for 120hz
The fuck is going on is this shit bugged or is this normal?
>>319554754
but what if you get hungry anon?
>>319556679
You're playing console games, unless you mainly play fighting games, you won't even notice the lag in 4K displays.
I'd suggest just buying a high end 1080p TV with a focus on image quality.
>>319553452
I´m happy to hit 100fps at 1080p.
If games would be easier to run at higher fps without having to spend a small fortune on graphics cards, sure. But as things are I don´t see any advantage for me in getting a 144hz display
>>319557010
What about for FPS's? Can't get my CoD on with input lag, if you know what I mean.
A 4k TV would mess me up in SFV? Any way to change the display from 4k to 1080? Think through my PS4 would do it?
>>319556758
Why's that? Makes lag worse?
I have a friend with one that he plays Bloodborne on and it looks fucking amazing.
I went home to my LCD and wanted to hit it with a hammer.
>>319554395
Is that still a thing? I was thinking of getting one next year when I build a Pascal machine.
>>319557667
They are pretty cool
Got the Asus MG278Q a few days ago but will return it because the panel is shit and background bleeding too extreme.
I'll probably wait until next year before getting a new 144Hz@1440p screen - the current ones all have issues that shouldn't be present at such price ranges. Guess until then 1080p@144Hz will have to do.
>>319554395
hows it feel to waste money on a useless gimmick when strobing is superior
>>319553452
My 144hz monitor came today too and I can actually overclock it to 160hz when using freesync
I got a refurbished ASUS ROG Swift PG278Q for a little less than $500. I couldn't find anything wrong with it and it's perfect. Matched with a GTX 980 and an i7-4790k and I can play everything.
>still playing in 120 fps
2011 called.
>>319560224
Forgot to mention it does 2k/1440p in 60Hz, 120Hz or 144Hz. And of course 1080p with those same refresh rates.
Is freesync on a 144hz monitor worth it?
>>319555401
Why do that and risk damaging the screens hardware when you can just download more Hz for free?
>>319561208
for 1440p gaming, that is
would a Fury be able to handle that?
>tfw stuck in 1080p60
60hz can be more fluid than 900 (nine zero zero)hz with the right setup eg crt or strobe lcd.
>>319554012

It's 12 fps per eye, that's why movies run at 24fps, 12x2=24.
