>Recently, Gamestop suggested that sales of Star Wars: Battlefront fell “short of expectations”, which may have been true for the brick and mortar store chain but EA’s Peter Moore claims that from the publisher’s view, Battlefront is far from the sales flop that some are currently suggesting, though exact sales figures are still not being revealed.

It may not have been a sales flop, but I would love to see how the game sold from week to week. I bet it sold a shit-load of pre-orders and week 1 units, then the numbers tanked Dragon Age 2 style.

That would be a good thing(really low sales). Publishers would finally understand that there is a margin of sanity and don't buy empty game made only for dlc

not many more people are playing battlefront than bf4

the difference probably goes up during the weekend
>>
This is starting to become usual as we see it more often. Nowday's business is either around the pre-order shit or the F2P with paid addons. I hope publishers realize that marketing is useless when the games are crap.
>>
Another slow sinking ship
and EA failing to mitigate the disaster
again
this is a early christmas present.
>>
>>319550395
Did it get released already?

>Nowday's business is either around the pre-order shit or the F2P with paid addons.
I think all that nickle and diming is exactly what has lead to those practices becoming less profitable.

People do get fed up with shit eventually after all. Happened with guitar games too.
>>
FUCK YES I HOPE IT SOLD LIKE SHIT
I hope next battlefront game will have way more content then this piece of shit
>>
>>319552960
You're joking, right?

/v/: I have the high ground!
/v/: Anakin.. From my view EA is flopping hard with Battlefront..
Anakin: WELL, FROM MY PUBLISHERS VIEW, GAMESTOP IS EVIL.
>>
I'm not going to defend EA here but can we really trust Gamestop in this case?

More and more people are choosing to buy games digitally now. I'm sure pretty much every title Gamestop is selling this year is "short of expectations".

>>319550395

I bet it hasnt even sold 2 million copies yet. They projected 13 million sales but those low reviews really fucked it up.
>>
>>319550395
once normies can no longer sell their games to shitstop they will go under, cd keys for gamesd locking games to ur console like pc is the future.

gamestop is finished
>>
It didn't, it's just Gamestop trying to shift blame for losing a ton of sales to other stores and digital distribution this year. They said the same shit for MGSV, Fallout 4, and The Witcher 3. All of which also sold very well.
>>
>>319553995
Nah, they're at 10 million now and the 13 million projection was for between release and March of next year. They'll easily reach it.
>>
>>319550395
>exact sales figures are still not being revealed.
Who do they think they're fooling? If it sold well they'd be gloating up a storm.
>>
>>319550395
i bought a copy for pc and another for ps4, both digitally
>>
>>319550395
When EA breaks a bank, they brag about it.

See Battlefield 3.

Me too fellow gamer, only a noob won't buy a Star Wars™ product.
>>
>>319553995
It maybe got 3 million, still not enough
>>

>anyone who gives a fuck about Star Wars AND shooters flocks to the beta
>people who play a lot of FPS games get bored after one or two matches and don't buy the game
>only people that buy the game are parents of Star Wars kids or people who literally have nothing else to play

I love how before the game came out people were shitting themselves thinking it would be Battlefield but with a Star Wars skin, if anything that would have been much, much better.

For us an EA.

>Battlefield players flock to Battlefront
>stick around because its just Battlefield with blasters
>>
>>319552715

Battlefield 4 has 22k players on PS4. The game is dirt cheap right now I'm so tempted to get it.
>>
>>319552718
Not really.

What we're seeing is the saturation of AAA market and its capability to sustain it.

Budgets rose like mad during the last 15 years, while the games' price, rose, in worst case(PC) from roughly $30 to $60. Note that I'm not in favour of raising prices - I personally think the problem lies in skyrocketing budgets and low efficiency of modern, corporate game dev studios(caused by variety of reasons).

To combat this, practices like DLC's, season passes and microtransactions were introduced. Again, the problem lies in effectiveness of that method. Let's say games became $100 with all that bullshit. So from $30 - they've rose 3,3 times. Quite a lot, but budgets went up by 10-100 times since then. The solution for this problem was broadening the market appeal of AAA games or yearly releases. As in - games became more expensive to make but not that much more expensive to buy, so we have to sell more of them.

The problem is that the market reached its saturation point. You can see companies like Ubisoft trying to attract "teh female audience" to games, but it's like cosmetic industry trying to appeal to males(often doing more evil things than EA CEO's may dream of) - even if it'll work, it's very, very lengthy and expensive process, which results will help in the long run, but won't help with raising costs.

Obviously, there won't be a crash, but expect many big companies to cut a lot of dead weight soon.

>battlefield 4 a 2 year old game and the most broken battlefield ever at launch that was clearly pushed out to soon that had a massive outrage has more players on a weekday and likly weekend than a brand new game with the backing of one of the biggest film franchises of all time

EA battlefront fags explain how your game isnt DoA

>>
Is EA going to be proven right that Battlefront will have a huge bump in sales after The Force Unleashed is in theatres?
>>
>>319550395
Then why the fuck is it already $20 off at fucking gamestop? This is just a regular sale, not a black friday sale or anything. The game isn't even a month old.
>>
>>319553632
>>319555215
Yeah, it seems to be that way.
I would like to know if Battlefront really fails, but this doesn't look like a decent proof

they're probably waiting for episode VII to come out and hoping that will raise the sales
>>
>>319555215
Source? I've only heard them say Battlefront didn't meet expectations.
>>
>>319550395
They probably don't want to say anything until after Christmas. It probably did sell like shit though.
>>
FROM MY POINT OF VIEW ITS NOT A FLOP
>>
>>319557732
i never have to wait more than 5 seconds to get into a match, so it's far from dead
>>
bf4 is a very solid shooter now but it took fucking forever to get that way. Battlefront is apparently a solid game that has so little depth that nobody wants to bother paying full price for a BF4 with star wars skin. I am still happy with bf4 and don't plan on paying for battlefront until it gets dirt cheap - which by that time it will have no player base so why bother.
>>
>>319558765
but anon when its GOTY edition comes out think of all the elites you get to shit all over with there epic emotes and special snowflake armor
>>
>>319550395
Damage control like always, fuck off with this shit, it means nothing.
>>
I would have bought battlefront if it was like the originals
>>
>>319557732
Battlefield 4 got fixed and is now a great game, best in the series bar 2 and 2142.

Then people would shitposting saying "its just like the originals".
>>
>>319557732
DICE worked a lot on BF4 though and they've added several free DLC/maps as well now even after the premium content.
So it's still alive and kicking, but Battlefront is doing terrible.
>>
>Fallout 4 comes out
>Buy it
>play it for a good 40-60 hours
>trash

>battlefront comes out
>don't buy it, beta was enough for me to realize I'd get bored just like I did in Battlefront 2, but even quicker because power up system

>Rainbow Six Siege comes out
>buy that shit
>play the fuck out of that shit
>addicted match/round gameplay
>fucking beast as fuck
>staying up 'til 2 AM every morning to play, when I have to be up by 7.
>can't wait to get off work and go home to play
>calling in coworkers to come in early and let me play
>still not enough

As a consistent blunt smoker though, I've gotta say. It's a hard game to enjoy a blunt while playing, and that is the main complaint. I'll usually get home, put on my PJ's or whatever, get something to drink, maybe a quick snack. Roll up my blunt, smoke half of it, then start a match. Then try to puff on it if I die early in a round, or between matches.
>>
>>319552715
Did that Hardline game die already

What's the numbers on that
>>
>>319550395
