ITT: Explain what makes the PS4 good.
I'm having a hard time understanding why it's doing so well.
Has a future, the best game of the current year and will be supported for the rest of it's life cycle.
its re-partnering with old ps2 devs and funding them for new games and pretty much shaping up to have one of the best libraries of current generation consoles.
The more you support the console, the more games we get, this is pretty much the most important thing that needs to be said to PC who want to exclusively play on PC.

I sold my xbone because the games were either mediocre or released better on PC
I keep wanting to buy a PS4, but none of the games that make it worthwhile will come out until like 2017. I might cave for Uncharted 4, but still, that's only 1 game.

Wii U has good 1st party games, but no 3rd party support. The casuals that bought the Wii are nowhere in sight this time around.
XBone has 1st party games that will mostly come to PC (aside from a few exceptions), and inferior 3rd party ports. They also tried to fuck their entire user base with DRM policies.

It's the only console with a future. Sony consoles always end up with the most interesting and varied library of all consoles. Right now it's too early, but in like 2 years, buying a PS4 will net you a quality library to pick games from. Only console with a future as well.

Keep in mind that most games that come out now are multi-plat, so console exclusives aren't as big of a thing. The PS4 will almost always have the best version of your triple A games due to the huge player base and superior hardware.
Bloodborne is a great game, but I don't know anybody who even plays the game in real life, and it hardly gets advertised. It's an obscure game. People are content with their yearly installments of CoD/Madden/Ass Creed, etc.

I bought one cause of:
1) My 9800 GT is outdated now and I don't play enough vidya to justify upgrading my rig
2) All games (including multiplats) I'd be interested in are or will be released on it
3) Few exclusives like Persona 5, BB, Uncharted 4, Horizon, Rime I'd like to get
4) Prefer physical discs since internet speeds here in Canada are shit and to sell/trade-in
5) Sit a desk for 8 hours a day for work and I don't wanna do the same thing at home (seriously only turned on my desktop 4-5 times this whole year)

I own both the PS4 and Xbox One. It is instantly obvious why the PS4 won the second you take it out of the box. Don't get me wrong, I like the Xbox One a lot, but the PS4 just seems like a better engineered piece of hardware.

Most people who play casually also bought it because it is the most powerful console and the one that their friends have. This is from experience because I have a shit ton of friends on PSN that have never ever finished one of their games.
Other because of its potential exclusives, and Bloodborne. I'm in this last group, and I'd like to add that I can't afford a PC and I really don't have the space for it either since my room is pretty much a closet.

But digital foundry and the like will continue to provide comparisons even tho the 900p vs 1080p outcome is obvious and only fuel for any sonygger feel like they beling to something thats better than its 2nd place running mate. Uncharted 4, Persona 5, Star Ocean 5, Ni No Kuni 2, Scalebound, Kingdom Hearts 3, Gravity Rush 2, Crackdown, Quantum Break, Gears 4, Ratchet & Clank Redux, Horizon Zero Dawn, The Last Guardian, Rime, WiLD, Ni-Oh, Yakuza 0, Nier Automata, etc. are all not dropping on PC.

They do though. Even if most casuals won't ever buy a single Jrpg, they know the "Playstation" system has that one big FinalFantasy game and that KingdomHearts thing, that they may one day get if it looks cool enough.
Having a shit ton of upcoming games just makes everyone confident in the system they are purshasing. It's also the only system that will have VR, which might look cool in commercials (again, even if you are not interested in it, casuals think it's cool tech and buy a PS4)
Getting bloated with jap games is good for the core (who'll actually play them) and for casuals because the PS4 looks "better" for it.
It's how supermarket aisles work. If there is only 1 apple left no one will take it (because they think it might be rotten or something, that may be why it was the last one), but if there are 100 and the thing looks full of apples, people are more inclined to buy a couple, even though most apples will just go to the trash afterward.
I asked my friends what console they wanted, they told me a PS4 because it looks better, they couldn't give me a reason.
I think the PS4 is winning not because is the better console but because MS fucked so hard it's gonna haunt them til genereations.
They tried something different and it blew up on their asses now both consoles are glorified PCs and MS inital plans for the XB1 are in the past.
At least i conviced one of them to build a PC.
