Why is AOE the most based RTS ever made?

Though to be honest I played AoE3 MP online the most due to the ranks/ladder system it had.
AoE1 and AoE2 was LAN-tier games though.
Battlegrounds is great but mostly played it alone
Rise of Nations is the GOAT RTS. Too bad the genre is dead though.

It's the perfect mix of basebuilding, resource managing, simple but effective economy, and micromanaging we ever got.
Also pretty and beautiful graphics. They just don't age at all.
There's no other game, no OTHER GAME, that captures the feel of 4vs4 matches. Kingdoms are built and razed and only wastelands remains. That feeling when gold armies start fighting and by the end it's the stone age again, no wood, no resources left, only the market and villagers fighting each other.
Also LAN parties. Fuck yeah best experience you could get from vidya.
Fucking awesome game. I haven't checked if the Steam release finally works properly online, or is it still a massive packet loss and lag drops?
