So Croteam just confirmed Serious Sam 4 on their Facebook page (although no gameplay footage or screenshots).

What do you wanna see in the new installment?
>>
>>319408567
They confirmed over three fucking years ago
THREE FUCKING YEARS
>>
Painkiller was better.

>What do you wanna see in the new installment?
Just a bunch of monsters and shooting shit.
The problem with Serious Sam 3 was that the last 3 levels were the only levels that really felt like Serious Sam, and by then the game was almost over.
I'm not sure what they were trying with the first couple of levels, it's like they wanted to make a modern linear shooter in small environments but decided to put it in a Serious Sam game.

I'm quite sure they just wanted to give the total casual rookies a bit softer landing to the series' style.

Personally I found the good ol' Sam feel to kick in right after the 4th map, and only then get better and better towards the end.

The modern-day Egypt makes sense in the story. Obviously it just looks like your generic middle-eastern shithole city #421 with the warn-torn surface applied on top tho'.

All in all, I found SS3 to be the only successful and enjoyable reboot/warming of a classic FPS title. It did what both Doom3 and DNF should've done, and did it well. It was also so deliciously PC Only by its design (that bigass Options-menu, man!).
>>
>>319409256
Was SS3 a reboot though?
That word has been thrown around so much that I don't even know what it means anymore.
>>
>>319409256
Apparently it's incredibly toaster friendly too
>>
>>319408567
Probably exactly the same thing as the other games but sort of different.
>>319409543
It really is, my shitbox runs it like a breeze.

Nope. It was just a prequel to all the games.
Thus the "re-warming".

>>319409543
it is. My craptop with i3 + 6gb + GT 540M gets a decent 35-45 fps on average, with customized low-med settings at 720p.
>>
>Just confirmed
They confirmed it like 2 years ago, where the fuck have you been
>>
>>319409767
Looks like some pre-rendered stuff for a PS1 game
>>
Talos Principle got updated with 64bit version. Probably something to do with SS4 development since they share the engine.

>>319409543
It was pretty terrible at release but after a couple of patches and driver updates it runs like a smooth butter.

it ran perfectly smooth for me since day 1.
Are you an AMD user by any chance?

No, GTX680. I remember the game slowing down to a crawl periodically when I played it on release. I left it alone and played it again a couple of months later and had no more problems.

they already do.
>inb4 "hitscan enemies"
I wonder why nobody complains about Doom's zombieguys, or Blood's cultists? SS's shotgun and AR grunts barely cause any damage, and can be dodged easily too.

>>319410370
huh... I played it on a mere GTX 560ti. Still do.
Got just fine performance through the whole game at 1920x1200, configured High-High-High settings.
>>
I have some discount code for steam for Talos Principle if anyone wants (not sure if it still works and if it works outside Europe)

>it's like they wanted to make a modern linear shooter in small environments
That's actually exactly what they were working on at first. But they scrapped their supposed military shooter game and reworked all the assets into 3, that's probably why it feels so polarizing playing the first couple of levels
>>
>>319410287
This and no more enemies like the shotgun/rifle guys from BFE.

Am I the only one who hated the last level of BFE? Those fucking giant bull guys have way too much HP and it was wave after wave after wave after wave of them. They move like molasses too so there was zero difficulty to them, it was just a test of patience.
>>
>>319408567

I'm pretty sure the announcement is much older than that. Predating Talos Principle's announcement, even

There's a thread on the Seriously! forums with all the SS4 info and the devs have said they were working of it years ago

There was even some concept art of Sam in Paris

do you mean THE bulls that charge at you, or the totally-not-Doom's-Hell-Knights that throw fire at you?

Either way, the Cannon is your friend, mate.

I personally loved the map, just because it was so over-the-top and crazy.

What game is this?

Why is a Serious Sam knockoff there? Sam doesn't look like that.
>>
>>319410995
The hell knight lookalikes. And I ran out of cannon ammo long before I ran out of things to shoot at. Hell, I ran out of ammo for most good guns and I recall having to backtrack to c4 boxes and shit.

inb4 you were pretending to be retarded weebshit

I actually enjoy SS2 but it's sometimes amusing to pretend it doesn't exist.
>>
>>319411571
Are Serious Sam 2 and Serious Sam TSE completely different games? Everytime I see a SS2 it looks like nothing I remember from TSE
>>
>>319411645
Yes. TFE, TSE, 2, and 3: BFE are all their own unique games.
>>
>>319411645
yes.
Technically, the SS2 is the third OR even fourth SS-game, depending if you wanna count the "The Next Encounter", that was consoles-only chapter.

TFE -> TSE -> TNE - > SS2 -> BFE
>>
>>319411571
I liked it more than 3. At least it had no hitscan enemies.
Vehicle sections and Croatian attempts at american humour were awful though.
But the parts where you actually got to fight shit were fun.
>>
>>319411720
>>319411789
God damn dude for years I've owned SS2 but I put off playing it because I thought TSE was the HD remake

I probably should've asked that question way, way earlier

Gameplay is the same.
artstyle and humor are quite different.

SS2 is way too goofy at times.

and i love it

On the timeline , SS2 is the last.
>>
>>319411804
I hated 2 because of how tiny the maps and enemy mobs were. Plus it was too cartoony for its own good.
>>
>>319411869
That would've been silly seeing as TSE has it's own HD remake as well.
>>
Cool lore shit like in serious sam: tse based on real world cultures.

I must be like, the only person on earth who appreciated that serious sam: tse made you walk through the entire culture of babylon and aztecs on steroids.
>>
>>319412110
Same.

i loved going through egypt on tfe.
>>
>>319411645
There are only three Serious Sam games.

There is first encounter, second encounter and before first encounter.

There was no serious sam 2 and there sure as hell does not exist a serious sam on the game boy.
>>
>>319411804
Bruh every SS game has had hitscan enemies, the only annoying ones in 3 are the damn helicopters
>>
>>319408567
Does anyone have that Serious Sam design process image involving Kleers?
>>
it will end up like SS3 - enjoyable 7/10 game but no real replay value because most of the maps are fucking modern warfare city even that piece of shit SS2 at least gave us a variety of levels

Hi remembuh me?

This game was actually fun , and i loved the gore/weapons , specialy the dual deagles/minigun/double barrel

the only thing that ruined it besides the analog controls was the terrible generic soundtrack , if they slapped the serious sam 2 soundtrack it would have been perfect.
>>
Who is your favorite serious sam boss?
>>

Kukulkan

Few weeks ago my friend was at Croteams booth in Zagreb at some event. I told him to ask the devs when's SS4 coming out. They told him if everything goes right it will be out by the end of the next year.

Funnest boss fight for sure, although not necessarily the hardest. Hardest I'd vouch would probably The Exotech Larva for me, because those mini larvas absolutely tore my shit up when I played on a higher difficulty.

Kukulkan though, shit gets real fun real fast when everything just starts flying around the map at insane speeds and directions.

It's not the hitscan enemies themselves, but the approach to using them. The only hiscan enemies in TFE and TSE were arachnids. They were big, bright yellow/red and almost always located either on rooftops or in places where they were easily visible and remained stationary. It made them a priority target, something you fired 4 missiles at and switched to hitting real targets. It worked well because the original Serious Sam games focused on the mobility instead of positioning. You were encouraged to be as fast and aggressive as possible and the enemies were also designed to work with that system.
In 3 hitscan enemies are fucking everywhere, they are small (except the big arachnid), their colours are muted and they are pretty mobile, easily dodging rockets. It feels more like a doom game than a Serious Sam game. Only encounters in 3 I really enjoyed were the ones that used minimally changed monsters from the original game, since majority of the new monsters are trash.

>>319412706
Ugh-Zan III. The final stage of the fight is pretty mediocre, but the presentation of the boss is fucking amazing. I almost shit my pants the first time I saw that gigantic motherfucker smashing through the level.
