For anyone who takes Kael's side on the matter; It's important to note that the High elves had abandoned the Alliance several years earlier after WC2.
The High elves had only been supplying a token force at the behest of Alleria Windrunner. It wasn't until Doomhammer brokered a deal with Alterac in exchange for an easy route to Quel'thalas in order to flank the Alliance by using Zul'jin's hatred of High elves as a potential asset. It wasn't until after Quel'thalas had been razed and the Alliance came to their aid that Quel'thalas pledged full support to the war effort.
After the Horde had been defeated in WC2, the High elves immediately seceded citing the Human's poor leadership as a reason why Alterac defected and blamed the Alliance for Quel'thalas being razed. King Terenas attempted to remind the High elves that it was human soldiers who put their lives on the line in order to quell the Troll threat and drive back the Horde. But the elves were obstinate. They'd been wanting out of the deal they had made with Thoradin, the first human king.
After all of this they remained secluded and did not mettle in the affairs of the Alliance even while the Scourge was ripping Lordaeron apart. It was only until after Quel'thalas was destroyed yet again by the Scourge that they came to help the Alliance, but by then there was no Alliance left to help.
In short, Garithos had no reason to trust the elves to do what needed to be done.
