combat is boring but serviceable.
some of the vistas the game shows you are gorgeous, but you can't go to them because it's pretty linear. what seems at first like a big city is actually blocked off with many "THIS PATH IS CLOSED OFF" signs.
the game's art style is great. memory remixing is really cool, but it doesn't happen nearly enough, i think you only do it like 3 times.
overall, it's not awful but ironically not very memorable either. I don't think it's worth the current steam price, but I recommend picking it up on sale if you're looking for another bam ham style game.

The game crashed on me 2 times. First was with that Helicopter chase and the second was the cutscene before you had to redo your mother's memories.

No, seriously, the game was just designed with the casual audience in mind. Anyhow, DIY combo system was alright. The only problem I had with it was enemies often dying before I could get to the most powerful attacks/drains at the very end of the chain.

what's funny is that it's because they were frustrated they couldn't do enough of that that they made Life is Strange on the side, with this concept as a core feature. I don't think they were expecting their big game to fail and the side project to be as widely successful.

It had so much potential, The story is barely touched upon. The world feels like it was only glimpsed at, needed more backstory, lore, less corridors, better combat, combat was horrible, hit enemy then flip around another enemy, good luck stringing complex combos because if you dont flip over that enemy he'll hit you. It also needed more memory segments that influenced the story or just memory segments that could be implemented in combat or maybe a boss.
Oh and the worst part is it's all about A CAR CRASH THAT DIDN'T KILL ANYBODY. That's it.

The combat is garbage - the stupid combo system only changes stats, not inputs or anything like that, and otherwise devolves in BAMHAM dodge-spam with its giant exclamation marks even on Memory Hunter.
The plot is garbage and I'm not even going to bother with that.
The platforming is uncharted-tier garbage.
The bosses devolve into spamming the same five special attacks, occasionally hitting minions to reduce cooldown. They are garbage.

There was a part where you remixed some chick's memories that was pretty interesting, but then it went back to trying to be some sort of brawler and the whole thing got boring really fast.
One of the problems was the shitty combo system. You start off with like 2 or 3 stupidly simple combos like punch, punch, punch or punch, kick, punch, kick, and then you can assign whether a punch will do extra damage or regain health or recharge a skill. This makes it so that performing a combo is no longer about trying to be flashy or experimenting with button combos to come up with cool attacks to fuck people up with and is now something you do to heal yourself or something. This ends up distracting you from the actual fight because you're more focused on making sure you hit punch, kick, punch, kick in the right order instead of approaching the fight organically because your combos are necessary to regain health or recharge skills faster, so fighting becomes a goddamn chore and you end up wishing you could just cut loose and fight how you want to instead of the very boringly specific way the game wants you to.

I died once, and I was on Mem Hunter Elite and was trying to beat him without using the Bamham button since I hated that it existed.
Then you get to his last phase and can't damage him without it.

A fairly decent game, combat was boring but the rest was enjoyable. Its also one of those rare games that shows you the consequences of your actions as a rebel fighting against the status quo, which I thought was pretty neat.
