actually decent value if you buy the $60 taken king edition that comes with all the DLC. They made the story semi coherent and fixed a bunch of the nonsense, but it's still plagued by some serious identity issues.
Right now the main issue players are having are with the longevity of the game. Bungie is switching away from paid DLC, but that likely means a lack of meaningful content until Destiny 2.
Basically they need to decide if Destiny is going to be an episodic shooter or an MMO, because the community is split between those two factions - one demanding regular content updates so the game won't get stale, the other saying they got what they paid for and will play other games until Destiny 2.

I replayed it recently and I noticed it's not as good as you think it looks
The textures are probably the equivalent of a medium texture on a PC game but the lighting and ambient occlusion are pretty damn intresting
The irregular framerate and the heavily toned down violence are what keeps it back from being a possible system seller

Yes, they haven't openly admitted they aren't doing anymore paid DLC, but things are definitely starting to point in that direction. The playstation experience thing this past weekend was their chance to showcase whatever the next big thing is going to be, and you know what we're getting?
Sparrow racing. On 2 maps. for 3 weeks. And a weapon patch.
We might see another expansion in late spring/early summer, but by then a big portion of the player base will likely move on. There just isn't enough meat left to keep people playing.
They are time-gating as much content as they can to string along those that still care, but the majority that don't care about collecting every exotic and emblem won't give a fuck
