Any of you guys into pinball?
Recently started playing The Pinball Arcade, having such a blast with it. Played the free table for a good few hours. Have bought Elvira and the Party Monsters and No Good Gofers, which I am addicted to. Shit is like crack.
Anyone play this and have essential tables that I should buy? What are your favourite tables?
Fuck yes, my friend rented a pinball table last weekend and we had a great pinball party. I think it was based on Dark Knight, loads of fun.
I like the idea of pinball, but for me there's no joy unless I'm playing on a real table.
Sims just don't do it for me, it's like playing a light gun game with a mouse.

The Pinball Arcade is a great substitute though, seem to be really good simulations of real tables.

Always been a fan. But I'm an oldfag and grew up plaing them in arcades and bars. Bride of Pinbot was always one of my favs.

my brother recently got into this stuff. he hasn't bothered with vidya versions, and has instead settled with whatever he can find at old arcades and the like.
Basically, no one plays them, and most of them are broken. Kids have vidya at home, and it's way easier to get their cash with modern versions of those claw machines. Only people that seem to be out there any more are the few older enthusiasts.

Check for movie theaters and there are usually arcades along the beach if you're anywhere near the shore.
My personal favorite table is Black Hole, and both the Pon*Bot tables are great. Centaur's art style is great, but it's a bit more of an advanced table that requires lots of precise skill shots in order.

I am in Ireland, so you can imagine, they are hard as fuck to find, in my experience anyway.
I'm checking ebay for machines right now and fuck me, a lot of these assholes want way more than what the machines are worth. Like, machines with extremely undesirable themes for four grand or more.

There's your problem. Prices are way inflated there for dozens of reasons. You'll need to go to some of the more niche, pinball only sites with marketplaces.

Pinball prices are retarded because it's not really possible to get the same experience at home, so lots of 40 year olds with good jobs buy garbage machines they played in their youth.
Unless you can find a place that's going out of business, you're not going to get a good price.

Since I am new I have only bought one pack, the No Good Gofers and Elvira 1989 pack. Not into buying seasons as I will play one or two tables for a good while trying to get highscores and shit. Highest so far is 58 million on No Good Gofers.

I wish I were rich, these things are cool as fuck, but our benevolent (non profit) slot machine association decided to have monopoly over them and then abandoned them (when they stopped making profit). At least they don't have monopoly over them anymore, but an euro for a game hurts a ton.

That Elvira pinball table is the exact one I played the most as a kid. Since it was the only one in the arcade that was a quarter. And it got me addicted to Pinball.
I wish Virtual Pinball would become a bigger genre. There's so many things a video game could do to improve on standard pinball, but few try. We need remakes of Kirby's Pinball Land and Sonic Spinball.
I used to have Zen pinball and Marvel Pinball on my 3ds. It was a shitload of fun.
