m8, I too was born in '93, and yet Smash was my first one (we were poor so we bought an N64 instead of a PS2 back in the early 2000's. It was easily one of the best whim decisions we ever made)
It was one of those games that wasn't really fun unless you had items on due to the very very watered down, basic formula compared to Melee. Lots of fun though.

Wario in PM is just a straight up brawler, and while I like the fact he's basically just Wario Land Wario, He's more of a tricky character in Sm4sh. You benefit from being annoying, and just being a conniving asshole. I enjoy his odd mix ups/set ups in Sm4sh more personally, but I'll always enjoy shoulder bashing into niggas all day.

For example, I like to do a fade back fair on someone's shield, so it looks like they can do a shieldgrab, but with Wario's excellent aerial mobility the grab will whiff. And I can punish accordingly with a grab or d-smash or fart or whatever.

Nairo used Dr. Mario because the two Marios have better match-ups against Pikachu than ZSS. The reason he went Dr. Mario is because he has used him more, and he's better at killing. Mario outperforms him in absolutely every other way, though. The match-up is enough in Mario/Doc's favor that simply more killing power would be good, given that Pikachu is small and has great recovery.
